Get Started with the Reports & Dashboards App

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you're able to:

  • List the areas of storefront performance covered by the B2C Commerce Reports & Dashboards app.
  • Explain how to set up user access to Reports & Dashboards.
  • Describe how to configure the dashboard date range.
  • Describe how to configure the dashboard filters to show a specific view of data.
  • Describe how realm currency and time zone settings affect your dashboard data, and identify the deadline for configuring them.
Note

Commerce Cloud is now Agentforce Commerce. Some Salesforce applications and documentation still reference Commerce Cloud.

Drive Success with Storefront Data

To help you explore the Reports and Dashboards app, place yourself in the role of an Agentforce Commerce for B2C lead merchandiser for a high-end athletic shoe retailer. As the company's lead merchandiser, you know that accurate performance data helps you drive success.

Your storefronts run Agentforce Commerce for B2C, which powers thousands of online shopping experiences across the globe. Each online customer experience generates useful data about your storefront, and you value having a single, prefiltered source for that data.

Today, you explore the Agentforce Commerce for B2C Reports & Dashboards app to review the analytic data it offers and plan how the metrics can help you fine-tune your merchandising strategy.

The Reports & Dashboards app gathers, and synthesizes data from your Agentforce Commerce for B2C realm. The app organizes your date into logical datasets called dashboards. Each dashboard presents trusted analytics that help you identify trends over time, with insight into revenue, top-selling products, and promotion profitability. With your storefront data organized for analysis, you can concentrate on managing and selling products instead of wrangling raw data.

In this badge, you learn how the dashboards deliver metrics you can use to fine-tune your storefront strategy and increase revenue.

Explore the Dashboards

The B2C Commerce Reports & Dashboards app is your single source for operational performance measurements on your Agentforce Commerce for B2C sites. Each dashboard focuses on a key performance indicator (KPI), such as sales, products, or site traffic, and shows the data as charts, graphs, and tables. You use this data to identify where your site exceeds performance goals and where it falls short.

Here's a brief description of each dashboard.

Dashboard

Description

Home

Shows a quick snapshot of key operating metrics, including revenue, orders, products, and promotions.

Sales

Shows sales metrics for product sales and revenue, including orders placed with and without Shopping Agent assistance.

Products

Reports on metrics related to your top-selling products and gift certificates.

Promotions

Shows general promotion performance, individual promotion results, and promotion source code data.

On-Site-Search

Reports on aggregated search metrics across all your sites.

Traffic

Shows data about your site visitors, including a Shopper Journey view that tracks visitors from a site visit to an order.

Einstein

Shows Einstein product recommendation performance, so you build strategies that increase conversion and revenue. Data runs on a 48-hour latency and only in production instances.

Technical

Summarizes your server-side technical operations data, including pipelines and controllers. Separate dashboards cover your site's Open Commerce API (OCAPI) and Salesforce Commerce API (SCAPI) requests.

Real-Time Performance

Shows live sales metrics, such as the number of orders and baskets created. Available only in production instances, and it requires the Performance User or Customer Manager role.

Inventory

Tracks inventory movement by SKU through the Salesforce Omnichannel Inventory (OCI) service. Populates only for accounts with an OCI license.

Set Up User Access

Your Account Manager admin grants you and members of your team access to the Reports & Dashboards app through one of three roles. Your admin assigns only one role per user.

  • Customer manager: Access to all reports and account settings.
  • Performance user: Access to all reports.
  • User: Access to all reports except the Real-Time Performance reports.

Open the Reports & Dashboards App

This unit assumes you're a B2C Commerce admin or merchandiser with the right permissions for these tasks. If you're not, that's fine. Read along to see how admins and merchandisers take these steps in a staging instance. Don't try these steps in your Trailhead Playground, because B2C Commerce isn't part of the Trailhead Playground.

Reports & Dashboards is also available for non-production environments through a feature switch, though the Real-Time Performance and Einstein dashboards are production-only. If you have a staging instance or sandbox, you can try out many of these steps there. If you don't have a staging instance or sandbox, ask your manager whether one is available.

Here's how to open the Reports & Dashboards app.

  • In Business Manager, select App Launcher, and then select Merchant Tools | Analytics | Reports & Dashboards.

Depending on your system setup, the app prompts you to log in with your Account Manager credentials before it opens in a new browser window. After you log in, you open the different dashboards from the dashboard tabs.

Customize Your Dashboard

With your user role set, you’re ready to customize the dashboards.

By default, each dashboard shows metrics at the realm level. A realm is the top-level organizational container that groupsone or more B2C instances. An instance is the actual environments where your storefront runs (like development, staging, and production) the infrastructure that develops, tests, and runs your storefronts. Most companies operate a single realm that manages every site they run.

The Reports and Dashboards date range and filters give you a way to narrow the data scope beyond that default.

Date Range

Metric data is most useful when viewed over time, or for a specific period like the holiday shopping season. The dashboards offer flexible date range options for the reports.

Every dashboard except Real-Time Performance has a date range setting with presets and a custom option:

  • Last 7 days
  • Last 30 days
  • Last 90 days
  • Custom range

The Main dashboard showing the date range selector.

The app provides data back to January 1, 2017 Beyond a single date range, you activate the compare date feature to review metrics across two date ranges, like sales for the past two holiday seasons.

Filters

When you first log in, the default filter settings are blank, so the reports reflect realm-level data across all sites. To narrow the view, you use the dashboard filters.

This table lists the filters and their function.

Filter Setting

Description

Sites

The sites your company operates. Most B2C Commerce Implementations run multiple sites, which together make up a realm.

Device Types

The device shoppers use to access your site. Tracked options include:

  • Desktop
  • Phone
  • Tablet
  • Unknown/Unrecognized, the catch-all for devices the dashboard can't classify from the user agent.

Customers

Site visitors who make a purchase are classed as new or returning.

  • New Customers: Purchase for the first time, either with a registered account or anonymously by email address.
  • Returning Customers: Purchased before, either as a registered user or as an anonymous customer, who uses the email address from a previous anonymous purchase.

Customer Registration

The site registration status of customers.

  • Registered customers: Customers who complete an order using a registered account.
  • Not Registered customers: Customers who have an account but checkout as a guest rather than using their account.

Channels

The channel where an order originates:

  • Customer Service Center
  • Call Center
  • Endless Aisle
  • Marketplace
  • Store
  • Storefront
  • TikTok

Agent Assistance

Controls whether the dashboard shows data for orders placed with Shopping Agent assistance.

Locales

A storefront locale.

You can set a single filter or a combination. For example, to see how many new customers ordered over the past month on the Sales dashboard, you set the date range to the last 30 days and the Customer filter to New Customers.

Time Zone and Realm Currency Settings

Your admin sets the Reports & Dashboards time zone and currency for your realm, and both carry a firm deadline: 60 days from your go-live date. After that window closes, the option to change either setting disappears from your instance, so getting them right during setup matters.

Changing the realm currency affects only the aggregated view across your sites; individual sites keep their own site currency. Viewing sites with different currencies displays all values in the realm currency, while viewing sites that share one currency displays values in that site currency.

Next Steps

In this unit, you explored how the Reports & Dashboards app helps you maintain a successful storefront. You learned the analytic areas the dashboards cover, including areas gated by role, license, or production-only access, and how to gain access and customize your view with the date range and filters. Next, you take a closer look at the Main dashboard and its view into the health of your storefront.
