Meet Martijn, Salesforce MVP, 13x Salesforce Certified Architect, The Netherlands Salesforce Developer Group Organizer

I don’t see myself moving on within the industry. I already have my dream job.
How did you first learn about Trailhead and start blazing trails?
I learned about it on Twitter! I've been a fan of Trailhead since day one. In the beginning, it focused primarily on developers. Now there is so much diversity in the content, Trailhead is more useful than ever.
What motivates you to learn through Trailhead?
Trailhead is a lot of fun! It is a step-by-step guide where you get the opportunity to focus on any specific topic rather than having to drink from the firehose. It's always up to date, and you always get the latest on Salesforce functionalities.
How do you make time for Trailhead?
I try to schedule one hour each day in the evening to complete modules, which is why I have so many now! The majority of the badges to earn on Trailhead require less than an hour to complete, so I've found that with a small snack and an hour of time, I can go pretty far.
How do you stay motivated to continue learning?
As a solution engineer you need to know all the different clouds and functionalities of Salesforce. It gives me a good overview of products I've never used before, and it helps me learn the best practices for serving customers better. Happy customer meetings, happy me! Trailhead is fun to do, and keeps you on top of your game. It's a potential game-changer for any solution engineer’s life.
What does being a Trailblazer mean to you?
Being a Trailblazer means being up to date with all things Salesforce, and sharing information with community members and peers. It helps me serve my customers better and dive deeper on particular topics. There is always more to learn! It is a never-ending story.
What is your biggest win thanks to something you’ve learned from Trailhead?
The new Lightning Experience is the future of Salesforce. Completing modules to switch to LEX enabled me to better inform my customers of what is coming, why they should switch, or why they should wait for now.
What advice do you have for new Trailblazers?
Trailhead is basically my answer to any Salesforce question that I get. Go check out Trailhead; it has everything! Do not forget to add your Salesforce certifications, superbadges, and Trailhead profile to your LinkedIn and résumé. Anyone who adds Salesforce skills to their LinkedIn profile or résumé will get attention from recruiters.
What are your next steps in the Salesforce ecosystem?
I don’t see myself moving on within the industry. I already have my dream job. Working towards the Technical Architect Certification is definitely a big goal of mine.
