Turn on Agentforce Vibes IDE

You must be a System Administrator to officially enable Agentforce Vibes IDE for your org.

As a prerequisite, your Salesforce sandbox org must have API access enabled. If you are running on Professional Edition, you need to contact your account executive to request the API add-on.

Here’s the step-by-step process for administrators to enable the IDE for your team.

1. Log in to your Salesforce org as a System Administrator.
   
2. From the Salesforce Setup menu, search for and select Agentforce Vibes.
   
3. Review the Terms and Conditions. This is a unified agreement that also covers other Salesforce DX tools like DevOps Center, DX Inspector, and Scale Center.
   
4. Click Accept to officially turn on Agentforce Vibes IDE. The platform is now available to any user in your sandbox org who holds the View All Data permission.
   

Authorize Your Connection

Agentforce Vibes IDE runs all its commands on the org you’re currently logged into, which automatically sets the org as your default org for development. Before you can dive in, you must authorize the connection to your org so the IDE can safely interact with it.

1. Click Setup () in your org, and select Agentforce Vibes to launch Agentforce Vibes IDE.
   
2. Open the Command Palette using Command+Shift+P (Mac) and Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows), and run SFDX: Authorize an Org or SFDX: Create a Default Scratch Org.
   
3. Select an org type and enter an alias name.
   
4. Copy or note the verification code that is shown.
   
5. Log in to your org from the login page that opens in your web browser.
   
6. To authorize the connection, enter the verification code that you’d copied and click Allow.
   

Now that you’re connected to your org, here’s some helpful information.

• The verification status is shown as a notification in your Agentforce Vibes IDE.
  
• The name of the connected org is shown on the status bar.
  
• To set or change the org, in Agentforce Vibes IDE status bar, click the org’s name or No Tracing (). Then, select a different org, or select SFDX: Set a Default Org to authorize a new org.
  
• To open the org that you’re connected to (default org) in the browser, click Open Default Org in Browser () in the status bar. Or open the Command Palette using Command+Shift+P (Mac) and Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows), and run SFDX: Open Default Org.
  
• To log out of the default org, run SDFX: Log Out from Default Org.
  

Install or Update The Salesforce Extensions Pack

The Salesforce Extensions Pack contains tools for application development. To install or update this pack:

1. In the IDE, go to Extensions ().
   
2. Search for the Salesforce Extensions Pack. The Salesforce Extensions Pack contains the official tools and the Salesforce Extensions Pack (Expanded) contains the official tools, plus other community-contributed tools.
   
3. Click Install or Update, if a previous version of the pack is already installed.
   

Create a DX Project

When you launch Agentforce Vibes IDE for the first time, you’ll find a clean, empty Salesforce DX project waiting for you so you can jump right into your work. Salesforce DX, which stands for Salesforce Developer Experience, is a development model and toolset that modernizes how applications are built on the Salesforce Platform. Salesforce DX shifts development away from shared, org-centric environments toward a source-driven workflow, which lets developers manage code locally or use version control systems like Git.

If you need to spin up a new project, sample app, or a prompt, you can easily do so using Agentforce Vibes. Alternatively, you can use the standard Command Palette too. The IDE lets you manage multiple projects within the same environment.

Now create a project using Agentforce Vibes. To do this:

1. Click Agentforce Vibes () on the activity bar.
   
2. Click +New Project in the Agentforce Vibes sidebar. You can explore all the different types of projects that you can create.
   
3. Let’s create a sample Lightning App type project. Select the Lightning App card.
   

4. You can create a project, update the data on your org using the sample prompts, or create a sample app. To create a sample lightning project or a standard template project, click Create Project.
   
5. Type a new project name or change the project location, if need be, and click Create Project.
   

Alternatively, to create a new project, open the Command Palette using Command+Shift+P (Mac) and Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows), type in SFDX: Create Project, and press Enter to select the standard project template. This creates a lightning app project.

Project Structure

To save you some time, Salesforce automatically loads a bunch of standard configuration files right into your project. Here’s a quick overview at what they do and why they are helpful.

• .gitignore: If you’re using Git for version control, this file tells Git exactly which temporary files to skip so your repository stays nice and clean.
  
• .prettierrc and .prettierignore: These files set up Prettier, which automatically formats your code.
  
• .vscode/extensions.json and .vscode/launch.json: These work behind the scenes to configure the Replay Debugger, a tool that helps you debug your code by playing back a recorded log of a past code run, rather than pausing a live, running system.
  
• .vscode/settings.json: This is where you can customize default behaviors and automation rules. It includes just one setting—deploying your code automatically every time you save your work—which is disabled by default, but you can easily activate it or add your own custom settings here.
