Learn About the Commission Page
Learning Objectives
After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:
- Describe the functionalities of the main Commission Page in Salesforce Spiff.
- Explain how to navigate through different commission periods and filter commission statements by Team and Plan.
- Identify the purpose and use of the Commission Page cards and the steps to export all commission statements.
The Salesforce Spiff Main Commission Page
Salesforce Spiff sales compensation software automates and simplifies the calculation and management of sales commissions.
The main Commission Page tool provides administrators and sales reps a centralized location to view, manage, and analyze commission data. With the Spiff commission page and rep statements, users can ensure accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in their commission process. These tools simplify commission management and enhance the ability to motivate and reward sales teams effectively.
Commission Period Selector
Located at the top of the commissions page, the default view displays the current commission period. Depending on your instance’s settings—weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly, or other custom intervals—you can navigate through periods using the arrows for incremental changes or the dropdown menu to jump to periods further back in time. The cadence is set during your instance’s implementation.
Filter the Statements Shown
The filter is in the top right corner, next to the commission period selector. It allows you to display commission statements by Team, Plan, or both. After applying your filters, use freeze (details on statement freeze is covered later) to apply the freeze specifically to the selected Team or Plan.
Commission Page Cards
The cards on the commission page provide a quick summary of the total commission amount for all reps this period. You can filter by team or plan for more specific totals, and view summaries of errored or frozen statements.
For reps with statements calculated in their preferred currency, the Total Commissions metric is shown in the Corporate Currency. All commissions for the period are converted to Corporate Currency using the rate effective at the end of the period before being totaled.
If you use the SFDC connector, you see an Integration Health card displaying the date and time of the last successful sync. If an error occurs, the status changes from Healthy to Sync Error, prompting you to reauthenticate or contact support for assistance.
Errored Statements on Statement Overview Card
On the Statement Overview card, click the number under Need Attention to access a detailed table of all statement errors for the period. The Errored Statements table shows which users have errors, includes the error messages, and provides a recommended action link that directs you to the location for fixing each issue. You can also export this table to share, store, or use as a checklist while resolving the errors.
Commissions Table
In the Commissions section, you find a summary of commissions for each rep with a calculated statement for the period. Use the search feature to quickly locate a specific rep.
The table displays the finance status (frozen or unfrozen), adjustments, and any statement errors, which appear in red text in the commission column.
Note: It’s crucial to check for statement errors at the end of the period, as these errors do not appear on the statement export.
Export All Commission Statements
Clicking export on the admin commissions page generates a summary of all statements for the period. The export includes commission amounts earned by each rep, along with separate tabs detailing commission amounts at the payout rule level.
In addition to this export functionality, be sure to use Salesforce Spiff Custom Reports. This feature allows you to create and export customized reports with any statement or obligation data you need.
Next, you dive into the Rep Statement, which provides detailed insights into individual commission calculations, adjustments, and errors.
