⚠️🔒 Important Notice about Enhanced Protection for Your Field Service Mobile Data 🔒⚠️

Hello Trailblazers,

We’re enhancing security for the Salesforce Field Service mobile app to better protect your sign-in tokens—the credentials that keep your mobile workers securely connected to Salesforce. These updates help defend your data against unauthorized access, stolen tokens, and token replay. The security enhancements will roll out automatically, but preparing early will ensure uninterrupted service for your mobile workforce. Here’s what you need to know and how to prepare.

What’s Changing

Two key security features that will work together to protect your mobile data:

  • Refresh Token Rotation (RTR): RTR issues a new sign-in token each time the app authenticates, ensuring that compromised tokens become invalid almost immediately. This feature is available in the Salesforce Field Service Mobile App v264.1 (Winter ‘27) and will be enforced on January 18, 2027. All user devices must be updated to v264.1 or later by this date. After this date, older versions will experience periodic logouts. Note: Because signing out clears local data from the device, any unsynced work will be permanently lost.

  • 30-Day Idle Sign-In Limit: Idle sign-in tokens now expire after 30 days of inactivity. Salesforce automatically applies this setting via the Connected App configuration Limit Idle Refresh Token Time-to-Live (TTL) to 30 Days. As long as a device connects to Salesforce at least once every 30 days, the user remains signed in and the 30-day window resets.

Key Dates

  • October 14, 2026: Field Service v264.1 begins roll out to the Apple App Store and Google Play for device updates
  • October 21, 2026: 30-day idle limit rollout begins for Sandbox orgs
  • November 4, 2026: 30-day idle limit rollout begins for Production orgs
  • January 18, 2027: Enforcement deadline to update to v264.1 or later

Important Considerations for Field Service Mobile

Because mobile workers frequently operate in offline environments, plan around the following behavior:

  • Re-authentication clears unsynced data: If a device goes unused for more than 30 days, the user must log in again when reconnecting. Re-authenticating in the Field Service mobile app clears any unsynced data remaining on the device. Unsynced data cleared during re-authentication cannot be recovered.
  • Best Practice: Ensure all mobile devices connect and sync at least once every 30 days. Instruct mobile workers to sync pending work prior to going offline for extended periods to ensure they don’t lose data.

Device Support and Next Steps

No device support is dropped in the v264 (Winter ‘27) release. Devices currently in active use require no hardware upgrades or special action for the idle limit. The simplest way to maintain peak performance and to keep your data protected is to keep your Field Service mobile app current.

Next Steps

Plan your mobile app update cycle following the release of v264.1 scheduled for October 14, 2026, and ensure all user devices are updated prior to the January 18, 2027 enforcement date.

Going Forward

Ensure all mobile devices connect and sync at least once every 30 days. Sign-in tokens will now expire after 30 days of inactivity. Unsynced data will be permanently lost.

Dear all,

We have observed that Work Plans and Work Steps do not appear immediately in the mobile application when the technician accesses them on their phone.

A page refresh is required for them to be displayed.

Work Plans and Work Steps are automatically generated when the Service Appointment status is changed to "On Site", and they should be displayed automatically without requiring a page refresh.

The following screen shots show the before and after manual refresh :

Before manual refresh :

After manual refresh :

We have observed this issue since the deployment of Patch nr.2 of version 262

.

We would be interested to know whether other customers have also experienced this issue in their Salesforce orgs.

Regards,

Aur

    Hello @Alain Baptista

    ,

    Thank you for asking.

In the meantime we realized that it is due to a specific development in Apex and have modified it to work as wished.

    Best regards

📣 Field Service Mobile 262.3.1 Release Update [09/23/26] 📣

Hello Trailblazers!

The latest patch for the Field Service Mobile app [iOS 262.3.1, Android 262.3 e-patch] has been released as of September 23rd, 2026, and is now rolling out in the App Store and Google Play.

Here's a link to the release notes for details on major changes:

https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_fieldservice_mobile.htm&type=5

Bug Fixes and Changes:

Performance and battery improvements (iOS)

- We fixed an issue where the app could gradually slow down and use extra battery the longer it was used during a shift. The slowdown built up over time, and was most noticeable when workers moved back and forth between work orders and ran flows or entered data. The app now releases background work it no longer needs, so performance and battery use stay steady throughout the day.

Offline PDF sync fix (iOS and Android)

- We fixed an issue where offline Service Reports and checklist PDFs could fail to sync, returning an "Enter a valid record ID" error.

Note:

We deploy major and patch releases over several days to ensure stability. The updates aren't necessarily available for all users until 7 days after the app becomes generally available.

📣 Field Service Mobile 262.3 Release Update [09/04/26]📣

Hello Trailblazers!

The 262.3 patch for the Field Service Mobile app [iOS 262.3.0, Android 262.3.19] has been released. Beta became available on August 26th, 2026, and the update is now rolling out to production in the App Store and Google Play.

As always, we encourage your feedback. Here's a

document with recommendations on how to test beta builds, and a document

on how to provide feedback — please raise any

critical issues immediately

Bug Fixes and Changes:

iOS

1. Fixed an issue where Lightning web components could become inconsistent while priming or viewing them.

2. Improved app startup reliability — the startup watchdog no longer counts time spent suspended in the background, preventing false timeouts and unnecessary restarts.

3. Fixed an issue that could unexpectedly log users out after the app was suspended in the background; the app now retries loading org settings instead.

4. Fixed "check for updates" incorrectly reporting no update available due to a stale cache, which could suppress the update prompt for 24+ hours.

5. Additional stability improvements to the Lightning SDK.

Android

1. Fixed a crash that could occur when reading the cached bootstrap manifest on launch.

2. Fixed a crash during web-server authentication login.

3. Fixed an OAuth login issue where users could get stuck in the in-app browser (Custom Tab) during sign-in.

Note: We deploy patch releases over several days to ensure stability. Updates aren't necessarily available to all general availability.

Here's a link to sign up for the

beta program.

Will the team be providing new downloadable and debuggable mobile builds?

The last version I see is from Feb 3 here:

https://trailhead.salesforce.com/trailblazer-community/feed/0D5KX00000mkdH50AI

It'd be really helpful to get the latest version to develop LWCs against.

From change management perspective, I would like to understand the different scenarios that will require the users to logout from the app.

Do these changes require the logout/login steps on the mobile app?

1. Adding fields to change page layout

2. Changing page layout assignments

3. Changing user permissions

4. Updating the permission set/permission set group of the user

5. Adding new LWC action

6. Updating existing LWC used in the LWC action

Other change scenarios?

Is there a link to documentation where these are explained?

Adding what we have identified so far being an one of the major pain point still for the field users.

    Short answer on your list:

First 4 require logout and login except LWC changes from to perform Clear Cache Metadata/Apply config changes . Page layout changes, layout assignments, user permissions, permission set and permission set group updates, new LWC actions, and updates to existing LWCs. All are metadata, and the app caches metadata at login.

    Why

The frequent sync everyone sees covers record data only. It does not cover cached metadata and code. A technician can be fully synced on data while still running a stale layout or LWC.

The Apply Configuration Changes pop-up is generated by the app once it detects new metadata for the org. Timing is controlled by the app's internal polling cycle, which is why Salesforce documents it as appearing within 24 hours of login rather than immediately after deployment. Until the technician taps Apply Now or clears cached metadata, the device keeps running the previously cached configuration.

Version 260 and earlier: manual clear required

Profile icon, gear icon, Advanced Settings, Clear Cached Metadata, OK.

Advanced Settings showing Clear Cached MetadataAdding what we have identified so far being an one of the major pain point still for the field users.

Version 262 and later: pop-up replaces manual clearing

    Apply Configuration Changes pop-up

    image.png

    • Apply Now applies the configuration and refreshes metadata immediately
    • Remind Me Later defers it and pins a notification in the Notification tab

Tapping outside the pop-up without choosing is treated the same as Remind Me Later. The pinned notification persists until the configuration is applied.

Pinned notification in the Notification tab

    image.png

    Current platform gaps

Admins cannot verify on a device whether the pop-up was shown or applied, cannot force a refresh remotely, and cannot attach the cache refresh to the data sync cycle.

    What we asked Salesforce

    1. Can the pop-up be re-triggered manually instead of waiting for the polling window? Needed for P1 and P2 fixes. Open.
    2. Does the pop-up cover metadata beyond LWC? Salesforce confirmed it applies to LWC only. They are evaluating extending it to Permission Sets, Profiles, Briefcase Builder, Public Groups, Static Resources, Apex, Page Layouts, Lightning Record Pages, Quick Actions, Buttons, Compact Layouts, Custom Metadata, Custom Settings, List Views, Tabs and Global Actions. Everything on that list still requires logout and login today.
    3. Can we identify which users have applied the configuration? Needed so supervisors can follow up with technicians who have not. Open.

    What we run with today

For any deployment changing mobile behavior we send both instructions, clear cache for 260 and earlier and Apply Changes for 262 and later, and we allow the 24 hour window before validating LWC fixes in production. If a device still shows the issue after a confirmed cache refresh, that is not stale cache and we treat it as a separate defect. We have a case open with Salesforce on that pattern.

Salesforce has indicated bug fixes for the LWC sync pop-up are targeted for September.

    Longer term

Product and Engineering have confirmed that auto triggering metadata sync on app close and reopen, with a fallback for users who miss the pop-up, is the right direction. Our ask is either to include cached metadata refresh in the standard Data Sync process, or to initialize the library only on SFS screen launch so the app always loads current configuration when opened. Either removes the dependency on technician action.

No release commitment yet. We are tracking it and will post the roadmap response here.

If you have additional asks we should put to Salesforce, add them below. Hope this helps!!!!

I do like the new UI, though I see that radio buttons behave differently now. What use to display much like a web browser's list of choices, now it's more like a picklist where you have to first tap the item for it to expand to the full list of choices (see attached screenshots).

Can we get this to just display all the options?

    Hey @Chris Adams

as far as I know, we cannot control is. It's a behavior of the field service mobile app and depends on the count of values within a picklist. If you have <= 6 values (or 5) than all values will be shown. More values you will see it as a picklist.

I did not check, but you could try to use a data capture flow instead of a field service mobile flow, maybe there is a different behavior. Did not try it yet

Hi @Dana Buell  If some users are seeing a maintenance message, it may be a temporary Salesforce service issue or a Field Service mobile app outage. Check the Salesforce Trust site for any reported incidents and confirm that all users are on the latest version of the Field Service app. If no outage is reported and the issue continues, contact Salesforce Support for further investigation.
