I have a dashboard and the customer says that performance is slow. I am currently using the performance recorder to address any performance issues related to a query.
One person on our team suggested that dashboard performance could be related to the use of a floating container as opposed to tile.
I saw some older posts (4 years ago) that said this could possibly be an issue. Hoping someone out there might have some updated information on this topic.

Your log file may give you the details you need, but I've not heard that floating containers can be significantly more taxing than tiled.
In my experience, it's far more likely that render delays are due to Tableau doing some real heavy lifting: working with live files, complex calculations, or (the biggest contender) plotting thousands of points/rows at once. In instances when I have such a long list, I use a pagination widget to display only so many on the screen at one time: for me, this improves performance and the users don't seem to mind.
I'll be watching your post-- I'm interested in knowing if this could be an issue, as well.
