Warot Bertrand ha fatto una domanda in #Tableau Cloud

Hi!

We want to connect Tableau Online to our ElasticSearch database.

ES is hosted on an AWS EC2, and traffic from the Internet is blocked. We could whitelist IP addresses, even though our IT would prefer to use a VPN if the option is available.

We need to use Elastic's connector. How can I use it with Tableau Online? Or do we need to move to Tableau Server to be able to use these kind of custom connectors?

    @Warot Bertrand

    Hi, Wow interesting question. Commonly when you have on premises data, you can use Tableau Bridge (Windows App) to keep your data fresh. However, I don't know if Bridge could work with JDBC connectors, but it worths the try.

    So in this case, I would:

    a. Install Tableau Bridge that can access your Elastic Search.

    b. Copy the jdbc to C:\Program Files\Tableau\Drivers:

    https://www.elastic.co/es/downloads/tableau-connector

    c. Publish a data source using the computer that has access to Elastic Search and using Tableau Desktop.

    d. Configure the data source to be refreshed using Tableau Bridge.

    (you may need a legacy schedule; https://help.tableau.com/current/online/en-us/to_sync_schedule.htm)

    e. In Tableau Online, in the published data source, under the connection tab, edit the connection to use a private network:

    g, Try the datasource refresh.

    If this post resolves the question, would you be so kind to "Select as Best"?. This will help other users find the same answer/resolution and help community keep track of answered questions. Thank you.
