Hello Seattle User Group! This is my first post and I'm very happy to now be a part of this community.
I think this is a pretty basic question but I wasn't able to find the answer on the desktop help page. I have created a dashboard and now want to add a quick filter to it that I did not have on my sheet when I created the dashboard. Do I need to create a completely new dashboard or am I just not seeing how to add this filter? I'm currently using Tableau 7.0.

After you drop the sheet on the dashboard, select the sheet and click on the arrow in the upper right hand corner. Scroll down to "Quick Filters" and select the filter you would like from the sub menu.
If the dimension you'd like to filter on is not there, go back to your original sheet and add that dimension pill to the detail shelf. The dimension should now show up in the menu above.
Under the menu on the filter legend you have the option of making if a global filter to apply to all sheets on the dashboard/in the workbook. In T8 you have the additional option of applying it to selected sheets.
