Hi everyone,

I’m working with a customer who already has MuleSoft Anypoint IDP in place. We recently learned about the new MuleSoft for Flow: IDP capability, and I’m trying to understand how the licensing and availability work.

I haven’t been able to find clear information on whether MuleSoft for Flow: IDP is included with an existing IDP license, or if it requires an additional license/add-on.

Also, does anyone know if there is a way to test MuleSoft for Flow: IDP in a Salesforce SDO/Developer org or through a trial environment?

    Hi @Andrea Lomazzi

A few things worth separating out here, since "MuleSoft for Flow: IDP" and your customer's existing "Anypoint IDP" are related but not the same licensed product:

    Licensing - not automatically included

MuleSoft for Flow: IDP is packaged and billed under the

MuleSoft Automation umbrella alongside MuleSoft for Flow: Integration and RPA, consumed via Automation Credits

(a separate metering layer from core Anypoint Platform vCore/Flow+Message billing). Automation Credits can be spent flexibly across MuleSoft for Flow: Integration, IDP, RPA, or Flow Orchestration, but that's a distinct commercial construct from a standalone Anypoint IDP contract.

Practically: an existing Anypoint IDP license does not

automatically grant access to Flow: IDP - they're different SKUs on different billing models. most renewals are now being migrated onto the Flow and Message structure regardless of when the original contract was signed, with Automation Credits as a separate billing layer for RPA and IDP workloads. Given how fragmented this has gotten (four separate billing pillars per that source Flows, Messages, Automation Credits, and now Agentforce Flex Credits), I wouldn't trust a generic answer here existing customers need to work directly with their account team to understand package eligibility and how renewal pricing translates to the current model. This is genuinely account specific enough that guessing would do your customer a disservice.

    Testing in a Developer/SDO org

I couldn't confirm a self-serve trial path specific to Flow: IDP in a Developer Edition or SDO org - the trial I found is for Anypoint Platform generally (30-day free trial, no credit card), not confirmed to include Flow: IDP specifically. Given IDP consumes metered Automation Credits, it's plausible any sandbox testing still draws from a provisioned credit pool rather than being free-standing in a Dev org. I'd verify this directly with your Salesforce/MuleSoft account rep rather than assume worth asking specifically "does our current Automation Credits allocation cover IDP testing in a sandbox, or do we need incremental credits provisioned."

Bottom line to bring to the customer:

treat Flow: IDP as a separate licensing conversation from their existing Anypoint IDP, get their account team to confirm Automation Credits eligibility/allocation, and don't assume a free Dev org trial exists until confirmed.
