Hello! I created a flow that auto-submits records for approval. When the auto-approval conditions stated in the approval process are met, the record gets auto-approved. All of that is working fine, and in Classic, approval steps appear in the correct order in the Approval History related list. When users need to quickly check Approval History to understand the current approval status, they'll be looking at the very top step. If they see "Submitted," they may easily assume that the record hasn't been approved.
How do we display the steps in the correct order in Lightning? A huge thank you in advance!
Yes, it appears that Approval History is different from regular related lists in its sorting capability: https://www.screencast.com/t/fSyJaU5e. But like I said earlier, even when I was able to sort (in the Approval History list view), it didn't make a difference. If those two steps (auto-submission and auto-approval) were the only steps, I suppose I could sort alphabetically by Status, but as as soon as any other steps are introduced, that becomes useless because users need to see the steps in chronological order.
Even if sorting did work and allowed me to put all the steps in the correct order manually, it would mean I would have to train all users, plus every new user coming in, to do the sorting, and to keep reminding them to do it for every object where records might be auto-submitted/auto approved. In Classic it just works out of the box, so I was wondering if there was something I was missing.
I've been trying to help users be more self-reliant by directing them to the approval history when they come to me asking where in the approval process the record is. I'll start pointing them to the record status for the time being, and hope this flipped order issue gets fixed, since status is only part of the picture, and doesn't show, for example, the time of record submission/approval, or the name of the approver.
