The organization I've been working at has recently started to work with a lot with organizations, businesses, and schools this year to do group work at our public orchard sites. I was asked by an organization recently if they'd be able to sign up as an organization when filling out the volunteer form or if their employees would individually need to sign up if interested in volunteering throughout the year. I went to the sign up we've been using (http://cityfruit.org/get-involved/harvest-volunteer-sign-up/

) and saw that a first and last name is required, and there's also a blank for "Volunteer Organization." Since there's usually one employee coordinating volunteer events within an organization, would this make sense to have them fill out the volunteer form as an organization, but including their first and last name? It would be helpful to have other small nonprofits opinions on how they coordinate groups/organizations within VFS.

Currently we are keeping track of group volunteer hours with a sign in sheet and storing in Google Drive, but I think as we continue to migrate fully over to VFS, it would be helpful if entire groups could sign up. Thanks for the help and ideas!

We have found that by having as many volunteers as possible pre-register makes the day-of event much easier to check in as well as the post-event data entry of the paper signups (unfortunately, most of our events are out by the water with minimal data coverage, so we have to go with paper). We also want to know which of our constituents are doing what (vol, donor, action, email) - we want the full 360 degree view of each consituent, so all that data in Salesforce is mandatory for us.

We want to cut as much paper as possible. We have all the legal and photo release verbiage on the online signup form so that we also don't have to obtain their physical signatures at the time of volunteering.
