Huge props to Benioff (I'm resisting at-mentioning him) for encouraging 20 San Francisco companies to contribute to a $10MM fund for SF Gives (Tipping Point Community).

How cool would it be if the Salesforce ISV community came together to show solidarity in Benioff's call for philanthropy? I'd be interested in being part of a bandwagon of do-gooders in strong alignment with Salesforce's CEO's vision of a better world lead by socially conscious companies giving back.

Thoughts? Could this be made a reality? What a powerful statement that would make to the larger tech community.

So, first I love this idea, it has big numbers and is splashy. It is looking at networking and synergy. It is trying to drive others to claim a bigger piece of the social pie.

However, I also find it a bit demeaning. Seriously, look at the numbers and the size of the companies involved. The 1st quarter profits at Apple in 2014 alone were $57.6 Billion! That is .001%. I love what Mark is doing---but I say shoot BIGGER, BOLDER---millions are not bold when playing with such numbers.
