My users have asked to have additional file upload space on the accounts object, making the space more specific to the file, i.e. a tab for each of these, visitor reports, pricing pdf, and archived files rather than the 'Files' standard component that is available. Is there a way to do this without writing code?

Excellent :) And feel free to contact the ISV that built the app - they might be more willing to accommodate additional requirements than you think.
