I'm struggling to determine which is the best approach for building a bundle where the first 12 months of maintenance are free for a perpetual license (Asset), but also allowing you to add additional years of maintenance on the initial purchase.

I originally created a product for included maintenance, and then another product for regular maintenance that could be added in the original quote.  The problem came when I went to renew it kept including the included maintenance, or if I chose a replacement option it would not put a price for the renewed maintence.  Any suggestoins?  My product looks like this:

Bundle Software A - Qty * Licenses = Net Price

 - Maintenance (35% of total), 1st 12 months free

 - Can add additional years of maintenance at 35% of total for as many years as customer would like

Should this be setup as separate products with the first year of maintenance included?  Should I be using MDQ products?  Trying to find best approach considering renewals and the 12 months free is only at original time of purchase.

    Ed,

I think I resolved my issue.  I ended up creating an MDQ product with yearly ramps.  Then I created two price rules:

    1.  Price rule 1 would kick off when the quote is not a renewal or amendment, and basically discount the product 100%.

    2.  Price rule 2 would kick off when the quote is not a renewal or amendment, and also when it detects a segment #2.  This rule would set the discount to 0%.

By doing this, my first segment year is always $0, while the subsequent years are their regular price.  When I renew, since these price rules will not activate, it renews as I wanted to without the discount.

If anyone has a better way of doing this, I'm open to ideas!
