We are trying to deploy Asset object to higher enviornment and getting this Error : ControlledByParent is not a valid sharing model for Asset .
Package it says <sharingModel>ControlledByParent</sharingModel> which is strange if I see my OWD Account,Contract & Asset = Private . We do have sharing rules on Account which give access to Asset based on criteria but those are same in source & Target .

if the target environment has sharing model as provate, I'd suggest changing the package setting to sharingModel>Private</sharingModel>, deploy the package and than ty chaning the OWD for asset to controlled by parent
either Salesforce will through a more specific error that will advbise what is the clash, or if iot succeeds it will indicage a bug by the metadata API whcih you can raise with salesforce support
