Permission Sets or Custom Profile

Hi All,  I have a client who is very security conscious--understandable. In order to help them analyze some of their data,  I need to be able to view all data, view set up and run reports.  My question is this:  What's the best way to approach this?  Permission sets, custom profile?  Thanks in advance

    Typically as a consultant you would be granted the admin profile for the time you are working on site. If this is not an option, I would create a permission set that grants you the access needed because you are a single user that needs access to certain permissions within the system.
