Salesforce for Outlook Contacts Sync Fail

I am new to SF and have been desparately trying to get Salesforce for Outlook to sync my contacts. The events get synced. I have about 1,400 contacts and none of them get synced, returning a "Field Required" error. I cannot figure out which field it is. Many of my contacts do NOT have Company listed, for example, but others do, so this does not seem to be the cause. Last names are also in place.

 

I've wasted hours trying to fix this myself and reading the resources. Any help, please? 

 

Error log provides the note for each:

 

ERROR [Contact] Create  to SFDC gave error(s) Sfdc.Server.SfdcServerCreateUpdateException: Field required

    Geoffrey, could you clarify "creating Contact manually through the UI", please? Which UI?
