Can I check a condition for a field in different object when creating a Validation rule?

I want to create a validation rule and include a check for a field that is under different object. Can I do that?if so, how

 

As I'm getting an error that the field does not exist

    Nikhil - you should be able to do this using Insert Field as Deepak has suggested.  This will allow you to easily traverse the objects and compare Field 1 from Parent to Field 2 of Child.
