However, when I create any report that includes product family segmenting, it breaks down each individual product per opportunity, where the executives only want to see the Opportunity record once, using the sum of the products per product family. I have attached an example:
Test #1 is what currently shows in this customization.
Test #2 is what the goal is - 1 Opportunity record that sums that shows the opportunities sum of the product families products.

Hmm aren't you getting that from your third row there, the Test #1 (3 records) row? It is showing one opportunity record and the sum of the products in that product family under the "total price". You can hide details to make it more apparent. If you want the other details in the view like close date you might be out of luck. A view that might make management happier is a maitrx report, where opportunities are the rows, and product family and stage are the column headers,
