I have been asked to run a report of accounts, the value of their opportunities and the date of the last activity.  The last activity date on the account is not picking up activities linked to contacts and opportunities so I have added custom fields on both these objects.  How do I link them all so that in one report I get:

All accounts

The value of opportunities if they have any and zero/blank if not

The date of last activity regardless of whether it has been attached to the account, an opportunity against the account and/or a contact against the account.

I have tried to create an account RUS to look at the custom field on the contact object but I can't link to the contact object.

Any ideas?

Sara, you could create a Custom Report Type, which has Accounts with Opportunities - https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=reports_defining_report_types.htm&type=0

    - Your primary object will be Accounts

    - Choose - with at least one related record from Opportunities

Now you could run a report of all your Accounts, pull in the Last Activity which shows the Date regardless if it's on Account, Opp, Contacts, and you could show the Opp Amount as well:

    Would look something like this:
