Allow a sales rep to re-assign accounts to themselves.

Question

We're finding there's alot of maintenance in limiting a sales rep's ability to change ownership of accounts (more so then securing the data).

Does anyone know how we can modify a rep's security to allow them to self assign Accounts and Leads to themselves?

Try giving them this permission - https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=account_owner.htm&type=5

It assumes that they can already see the account in order to change it. You may need to throw in an edit permission as well, but I am not 100% on that.
