We are using the nonprofit starter pack.  I am wondering if other organizations have developed good processes for recording in-kind donations.  Also, what do you do when you have a corporate donation from a company whose main contact is also an individual donor?  For example, Jane Smith is an individual donor who has made several personal donations.  She is also the owner of a small company who later makes a corporate donation.  What is the best way to differentiate between the two types and make sure that it is recorded properly for the donor?  Thank you to anyone who can help.

     Hi Amy,

I recommend to create a new donation (/opportunity) record type to track in-kind donations, this will allow you to separate these gifts from grants, major gifts, memberships etc...

Regarding donations from individuals... you should use the donations' contact roles to track soft and hard credits. Jane Smith should receive a soft credit for her company's donations and a hard credit for her own donations.

    I hope it helps,

    Tal
