But since it's a different issue, and to facilitate future reference by users, I'd though I'd ask a new question.
I've set up an email alert that is sent 7 days before an opportunity close date. For that, I've used a time-based workflow.
In the recipients screen, I've added all the sales rep who have opportunities and are thus supposed to receive the email alter.
The only problem is that when an email alert is sent about Opportunity X for Sales Rep X, it is sent to all sales reps.
This is probably an easy issue to solve, but I don't know how. Do I need to create as many email alerts as there are sales reps (each alert with its own sales rep as a recipient) ? or is there an easier way to have sales rep receive alerts only for their opportunities.
Thanks for the help.

Opportunity Owner would work if you are only targeting the Owner, but wouldn't work if you were attempting to target a user or contact that was associated with a lookup field on the Opportunity (which is what the second resolution was detailing).
Glad you figured out the easy method and that you are dealing with record owners for workflow!
