Merging two Separate Salesforce Databases

The company I work for recently bought another company that is also using Salesforce.  Is it possible to merge the databases together?  I have not seen their instance of Salesforce but I am assuming they have different fields and there will likley be some duplicate data.  Are there any best practices for merging two instances of Salesforce?

    Hi there!

     

    You have 2 main options I think:

     

    1. Pull all of the data from the org, make sure it maps to the data in your org and insert it with Dataloader,....

     

    This will be a very long drawn out process but is possible.

     

    2. Use Salesforce Connect - https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=platform_connect_about.htm&type=5

     

    This will allow them to keep thier org, and keep running it how they are but allows each org to view the data of the other.
