just wondering if anyone has any ideas on my below question
I need a button creating that allows a user to submit a record and once submitted the record locks and will only allow a clone,
is this possible in normal Salesforce? or would it need to be done using viuals force or apex triggers?

James, you can give only create rights to the object which user should not edit or delete once created. I guess this should solve the problem.
