Hi again community, does unlocked packages not support custom profiles ?
The metadata api coverage suggests profile deployment is available in Unlocked packaging - https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/metadata-coverage/49
however
We are getting an error upon installation of a package contain a profile.
The errors something along the lines of "An object <profile name> of type Profile was named in package.xml, but was not found in zipped directory"
this happens during installation.
The package creation seems to go through fine.
Any insights on how to overcome this be very much appreciated.

in our packaging, we have roles, profiles and other things that won't play well with unlocked packages inside a seperate Metadata API repo and keep that as a GIt submodule that's referenced in build scripts. We found it better to keep these items seperate from each package.
