If I have to replace some of my picklist values for a picklist field, I'd be hitting the Replace button. On that screen I would be asked to enter the "Exact Value Changing From" and the "Select Value Changing To".
Does anyone understand why the "Exact Value Changing From" is a text field and not a picklist field? My hope was that I can combine multiple picklist values into one by using the textbox. Let's say if I have 3 picklist values, A, B, C, I thought I could enter "A;B;C" or "A,B,C" - semicolon or colon delimited to replace these 3 picklist values with one. But I can't - I get the "you're trying to replace doesn't exist for this picklist." error.
If that's the case then why is that a text field and not a picklist field, especially if I am looking to replace one picklist value to another?
Just curious.
Because a record may have values populated in a picklist field that are not and never were in the defined list of picklist values. The replace utility allows you to enter any exact value to replace (vs giving you a picklist of all active/inactive values)
