Hi guys,

We are looking to move our sales organization working in Salesforce from Classic to Lightning and the first challenge, obviously, is to convince our Sales Management this project is worth the high effort and we all going to benefit from it.

We are looking to hear from customers who have already moved to Lightning (note- moved to Lightning from Classic, and not started a new project in Lightning), and get a few tips on how they did it in their company. What main points did you use to show the ROI of this move? What material did you prepare to highlight the benefits/tools Salesforce Lightning brings (specifically for Sales Users)- i.e: List of features, Measurements etc.

Thank you!

    1. Features - Lightning has things available out of the box (or available free on the AppExchange) that we couldn't deliver in Classic.

    2. Speed - Not as in page loading, but in getting new requests out the door and what I'm able to produce.

    3. It's inevitable. "Hey people, writing is on the wall: Lightning is the future, we'll just stagnate staying in Classic, let's just rip the bandaid off."

One thing that helped with the transition itself was keeping it really simple. All the amazing new features and things would drastically change up their workflow and process - didn't do them out of the gate. I definitely did some clean up and small wins that would be a natural transition (ie. visualforce component getting its own tab on the account rather than being in the details, etc., but for the most part, I tried to make for a really easy transition with minimal training needed.

There are enough benefits just with the UI update that people were really happy and impressed with that. Now that everyone is more comfortable, I'm really starting to ramp up with LEX specific add-ons, and getting to show how quickly those things can happen, which is also really driving home my second point (and first).
