I have most of my users on classic and a select pilot group on LEX until we fully role out.

Classic edition has the ability to send instant messages (lower right hand corner); or private messages to other users.  Unfortunately, this capability is not available in LEX.  To get around this, those of us on LEX have downloaded chatter desktop so that we can still instant/private message other users.

As Chatter desktop will be gone with the summer 18 release, are there any options coming in LEX that will allow users to communicate with each other in a chat/message scenario rather than posting on their chatter page? 

This is extremely helpful to keep unnecessary emails or chatter feed congestion down.
