, customer success is our top priority. Due to the extraordinary growth and success of our customers, we occasionally need to perform various maintenances when an instance is identified as one that is nearing our threshold for capacity. The goal of these are to deliver exceptional availability and reliability of our service. We carefully review and monitor our capacity levels across all of our instances to ensure we plan well ahead of our customers’ growth. Prior to any maintenance, we make every effort to ensure customers are aware and prepared.
>>Planned migrations and splits
We have planned splits or migrations for many of our instances over the next few months and through out 2015. For the following instances, we have scheduled a split or migration:
+ NA11 Split: January 10, 2015
+ NA5 Instance Migration: March 7, 2015
+ NA4 Split: March 21, 2015
+ NA2 Split: April 18, 2015
+ NA6 Split: May 2, 2015
Most of our instances will be affected by a split or migration over the next 24 months, so we urge you to review the checklists in the attached link and prepare early.
>>What's the difference between a split and a migration?
Split: we move a subset of our customers to a new Salesforce instance.
Migration: we move our customers on an existing Salesforce instance in one data center to a new Salesforce instance in another data center.
The linked articles below will detail the needed steps, but the most important action is to replace hard-coded references to the instance name in your code and integrations with a relative URL/reference. Our Premier Support team can help identify the hard-coded references in your Apex code. Submit a case for us to review the code to provide all instances of hard-coded references within your org.
