Is it correct that we need to pass three mandatory release exams once we get certified? And it is for indefinite time. Whenever you missed two consecutive release exams, you are out of the game and your credentials are expired? Also even after passing three release exams, you have to reappear for the certification exam once again and after that they will provide you opportunity to stay up in the ecosystem for one more year along with the release exams? Isn't it weird if it is so?

That is correct. You will pay $100 every third release exam that you complete. There is a $100 charge for the Administrator release exam and a $100 charge for the Developer release exam each year. Depending on which certifications you hold, you could pay up to $200/year.
