Navigate the Salesforce Trust Site

Linda Rosenberg is a skilled Salesforce B2C Commerce administrator at Cloud Kicks, a high-end custom sneaker company. As an admin, Linda used to gather important information about the health of her B2C Commerce storefronts by accessing a separate status site. Now, many of the notifications that Linda needs are available on the Salesforce Trust site. Here’s where she goes to find important information.

To make sure she can find any important status information for her Salesforce B2C Commerce product, Linda decides to explore the Salesforce Trust site. Let’s follow along.

The site is made up of three sections.

• System Status provides a visual representation of the health of the POD containing her company’s instances. A POD (point of delivery) is a group of compute, storage, and network resources contained in multiple equipment racks within a data center. A single POD can support anywhere from one to 50 customers, depending on how large those customers are.
• Security gives her an overview of Salesforce security practices.
• Compliance shows her the standards with which Salesforce is in compliance.

Each of these areas is available right from the Trust site homepage. Linda dives into each section to learn more.

System Status is where Linda goes to quickly view the status for the Cloud Kicks POD. Most Salesforce products are grouped on the Salesforce Status page, but some products use individual status sites.

Until recently, B2C Commerce health data was found on its own site, too—but now Linda can find this information on the Salesforce Status page.

Opening the Security tab, Linda finds information about how to secure her B2C Commerce product and protect her instances.

The top navigation bar and homepage icons provide links to:

• Best Practices—Information that Linda can use to keep her products safe.
• Training—Where Linda can learn more about Salesforce Security.
• Security Advisories—Where customers like Linda can learn about any potential security issues related to the Salesforce platform or subsidiaries.

From the Security Advisories page, Linda can also report any security concerns, suspicious emails or activity, or report any potential vulnerabilities to the security team at Salesforce (security@salesforce.com).

The next section on the homepage points her to learning portals organized by user roles.

• For administrators—Where Linda can find tools, admin-focused learning materials, and community connections to help her better secure her B2C Commerce product.
• For developers—Tools, training, documentation, and developer forum links that Linda can provide to her B2C Commerce storefront developers.
• For everyone—Security tips and best practices that Linda can share with all employees at Cloud Kicks.

The last section on the homepage contains links to security-related Trailhead materials, ranging from Trailhead trails and modules to security Superbadges.

Linda looks at the Compliance tab next. Here she can find all the national and international security standards with which Salesforce complies, and the many different services that Salesforce offers.

Linda knows that Cloud Kicks is planning a significant expansion into the Japanese market in the coming months. Japan uses PrivacyMark, the country’s equivalent to ISO 27001 for ensuring personal information protection. Linda wants to verify that Cloud Kicks systems are in compliance before the expansion.

Linda clicks Show filters for Certifications, Standards, and Regulations, then selects Compliance from the Types section, and selects Japan in the Region section. She can now view the compliance standards that are relevant to Japan. Looking through the compliance badges, she notes Salesforce has PrivacyMark certification, and has had it since 2008.

Linda is happy to have so much information about security best practices and compliance details on the Salesforce Trust site. It’s a great resource, and she plans to come back to the site often to take advantage of many of the different learning materials. But first, she wants to find the status information specific to Cloud Kick’s B2C Commerce product. You can follow along in the next unit.
