Drive Planning and Progress

Effective degree planning is more than just mapping out courses for a student. It’s about giving students clarity, control, and confidence. When students visualize their academic requirements, track their progress, and understand how each course fits into their overall goals, they’re more likely to stay engaged and on track to graduate.

For institutions, degree planning is essential for resource allocation, academic advising, and maintaining compliance with program requirements. Without clear plans, students sometimes take courses out of sequence, miss critical requirements, or delay graduation, resulting in higher costs and lower satisfaction.

Agentforce Education offers a comprehensive, student-centric Degree Planner that connects directly to institutional program plans. This ensures alignment between what students see and what staff manage behind the scenes.

In this unit, you explore how Agentforce Education supports student-centered degree planning and facilitates institutions to deliver personalized, structured academic journeys.

Guide Students with the Degree Planner

It’s advising week at Astro University, and Sophia is meeting with her academic advisor to prepare for registration. She’s completed most of her general education requirements and is considering a switch to a combined major in Environmental Data Analytics. Meanwhile, Juan is reviewing program plans to ensure they’re up to date for the upcoming term.

With Agentforce Education, Sophia and Juan have the tools they need: Sophia and her advisor see her full academic path through the Degree Planner, and Juan is confident that the underlying data reflects the latest program requirements.

The Degree Planner in Agentforce Education is a dynamic, interactive tool that helps students such as Sophia organize their academic journey term by term. It provides a personalized view of their degree program, highlighting required, in-progress, and completed courses. Rather than generating a prebuilt schedule, the planner provides a clear template based on the student’s assigned program plan.

As shown in this screenshot, students can build their own degree roadmap using a template or start entirely from scratch.

Using the user-friendly Degree Planner interface, students can quickly drag and drop courses into different terms, use placeholders when a course hasn’t yet been selected, and customize their plan based on personal goals or timeline changes.

For example, Sophia is considering a semester abroad. She adjusts her plan to reflect that term, shifting required courses to earlier or later terms. If she wants to pursue a minor, she can add those courses to her planner and see how they fit alongside her major.

The planner also supports what-if scenarios, so advisors can help students explore options such as switching majors or adding a second degree. For example, Sophia compares her current program against a major in Environmental Data Analytics to see how her completed coursework applies and how her graduation timeline changes.

The interface is designed to encourage exploration and ownership. Rather than being handed a static list of requirements, students actively build their plan and see the impact of each decision, helping them to take charge of their educational journey.

Now, take a look at how Agentforce Education helps students make decisions about their academic programs.

Compare Paths with Intelligent Program Comparison

As students explore academic programs, they often want to understand how their completed courses count toward a new path. Agentforce Education’s Intelligent Program Comparison Engine makes this process simple and transparent.

After meeting with her advisor, Sophia’s excited about switching from her current major in Environmental Science to a combined major in Environmental Data Analytics. With the comparison engine, she can select up to three programs to view side by side with her current enrollment.

The system shows which requirements she’s already completed, which are still outstanding, and how long it will take to finish each option.

This level of insight helps students make informed decisions based on academic fit, credit alignment, and time to completion. It also reduces the workload for advisors and staff, who no longer need to manually review transcripts or program plans to provide guidance. Students can use the comparison engine on the student portal to explore new academic directions independently before bringing questions to an advisor.

Along with comprehensive degree planning tools, Agentforce Education helps students and advisors keep track of progress along the educational journey.

Track Academic Advancement with Learner Progress

The Learner Progress component in Agentforce Education gives both students and advisors a clear, detailed view of academic advancement. When added to an Experience Cloud site, learners see the status of their academic journey in real time, whether they’re exploring degree plans, actively completing requirements, or reviewing past coursework.

Advisors access the same information through a tab on the learner’s case record to build a shared understanding and provide meaningful guidance.

With Learner Progress, users can view all enrolled learning programs along with the requirements–planned, enrolled, completed, unplanned–for each one. Each requirement displays important details such as the result or grade if available and, for repeated courses, the term in which it was last attempted. The component also highlights unplanned or failed requirements that need immediate attention, helping students and advisors address potential issues before they affect graduation timelines.

Learner Progress includes courses and programs from any of the learner’s degree plans, whether draft or approved, ensuring comprehensive visibility. This consistent, centralized view makes it easier for learners to track achievements and plan their next steps, while advisors offer targeted, informed support.

Provide Structure, Flexibility, and Support in Every Plan

Degree planning is both an academic roadmap and a retention strategy. When students have the tools to see where they’re going and the support to adapt as they grow, they’re more likely to stay on track, make confident decisions, and reach their goals.

For Juan and the Astro University team, Agentforce Education brings efficiency and oversight to the planning process with intelligent degree planning, program comparison, and progress tracking tools. For students such as Sophia, it offers clarity, choice, and a sense of progress every step of the way.

In the next unit, explore how students search and register for courses using tools that streamline scheduling, manage enrollment windows, and ensure eligibility checks are in place.
