MuleSoft Platform Architect Certification Overview

As a MuleSoft Platform Architect, you deliver the best value when you:

  • Optimize and shape the Anypoint Platform deployment in the specific organizational context, working with business, infrastructure, InfoSec, and other teams.
  • Define how Anypoint Platform is used in conjunction with other tools and applications in the organization.
  • Define the usage of Anypoint Platform and the corresponding organizational and process changes needed to help the platform be sustainable.
  • Provide guidance and drive the creation of standards, reusable assets, and automation required for scale and multi-line of business (LoB) adoption.

MuleSoft Omni Gateway

In May, MuleSoft announced Omni Gateway, the next evolution of Flex Gateway — no migration required. Omni Gateway offers governance built for speed between LLMs, agents, APIs and your systems with a fast, flexible gateway built to work across any environment. This single governance layer works to secure and control every interaction between these systems, including third-party gateways like Kong, Apigee, Azure, and AWS, making your APIs agent-ready without complicated, costly rebuilds or re-architecting time.

Why the change? Companies are deploying autonomous agents faster than they can govern them. Agents need proper oversight and MuleSoft aims to make it easier. In addition, engineering teams are working with fragmented tools. Today’s underlying integration infrastructure, including APIs, gateways, and policy layers, were built exclusively for application consumption. With autonomous agents, previously manageable blind spots may immediately escalate into critical security vulnerabilities, shadow assets, and inconsistent compliance. To address these new vulnerabilities, teams scrambled, reflexively adding standalone AI gateways or custom policy layers, fragmenting the control plane. Organizations lack a unified view of what agents are doing across the business.

Omni Gateway closes that gap with federated policy enforcement, MCP conversion for agent-ready tools, and a unified developer portal for the full API and AI portfolio to serve agents and developers alike. By unifying API and AI governance under a single control plane, customers can accelerate taking their AI initiatives from prototype to production, turning months of integration, security review, and policy alignment into days with a streamlined deployment path.

With Omni Gateway, get oversight across every gateway and interaction. That means every agent interaction and protocol will be observable and traceable from one unified view. This not only increases visibility across interactions, but also helps cut down on custom alterations while prioritizing security.

  • Manage APIs: Extend governance to any gateway or API, connect AI agents with native MCP and A2A support, make every API and actionable agent asset, and transform APIs into MCP endpoints that AI agents can discover and use without rebuilding or re-architecting.
  • Secure AI: Enforce out-of-the-box policies across your enterprise, ensure every agent action has a delegated identity, and verify trust across every agent interaction with specialized, automatic policies across every connection.
  • Decrease costs: Control and attribute your LLM spend and token usage. Track token consumption and costs across every team, application, and workflow. AI spend becomes a governed, attributable line item.

What about Flex Gateway? Flex Gateway will continue to exist, but evolving for the AI era. Omni Gateway is the same runtime, expanded to govern AI traffic alongside the APIs you're already running. With Omni Gateway, existing Flex Gateway customers get everything they have today, plus the governance capabilities the agentic era requires, making it safer to work at the speed of AI.

Integration Intelligence

This analytics solution for MuleSoft integration operations helps teams move from reactive troubleshooting to proactive optimization and architectural resilience. This is made possible by ingesting MuleSoft telemetry data into Salesforce and leveraging the capabilities of Data 360 and Tableau Next. Together with Anypoint Monitoring and the Diagnostics Agent, Integration Intelligence adds long-term analytics and actionable insights so that you can maximize uptime and optimize performance over time. Users can navigate from Anypoint to Salesforce with a seamless-sign on banner, reducing friction in the process.

These latest enhancements mainly offer better usage of metrics through built-in dashboards and improved visualization. By providing these features, we’re making it easier for you to pinpoint inefficiencies, benchmark performance, and make smarter optimization decisions. As of the latest Anypoint Monitoring release, Integration Intelligence now supports the following improvements:

  • Get data from more deployment types including CloudHub 2.0 and Runtime Fabric
  • Custom data spaces and dashboards when setting up Integration Intelligence to monitor metrics for Mule apps and APIs
  • Flex Gateway visualizations for dashboards
  • New application and API metrics in Anypoint Insights in the API Details and Application Details tabs

Integration Intelligence enhancements, available since the 2025 beta, are now generally available in US and EU cloud regions.

Anypoint Platform Private Cloud Edition (PCE) 4.2.0

As of April, Anypoint Platform Private Cloud Edition (PCE) 4.2.0 is GA. With it, run and manage Mule apps on your local servers following your security policies. Anypoint Platform PCE offers local MuleSoft control plane functionality, with no external system interactions or internet connectivity required, maintaining all data storage, processing, and transmission. Be aware that Anypoint Platform PCE uses Kubernetes for built-in high availability and scalability. While you can install it without deep Kubernetes knowledge, understanding these tools is essential for management and troubleshooting.

In addition to new updates around compliance, migration, support, and override options, the latest release brings issue fixes around log-ins and existing “Client” type Connected Apps. Key highlights include:

  • Security and compliance: Critical bug fixes and a base image upgrade to RHEL9 for enhanced legal and security standards.
  • Advanced encryption: Support for FIPS 140-3 (EMS + TLS 1.3).
  • Modern runtimes: Support for Mule Runtime 4.11.
  • Enhanced observability: Native OTel (OpenTelemetry) support for Traces & Logs.
  • Cloud-Native Infrastructure:StorageClass support for PVC provisioning.
Note

If you’re using a version of Anypoint Platform PCE earlier than 3.2.3, upgrade to version 3.2.3 first. Then proceed with upgrading to version 4.x.

API Catalog

API Catalog is now the central hub for managing Salesforce Hosted MCP Servers for Admins. There are two types of MCP Servers available: Standard (provided by Salesforce Clouds) and Custom (created by choosing select capabilities for any use case). This means any MCP-compatible AI assistant can securely work with your Salesforce data — managed entirely from Setup, with no infrastructure to provision. You can create custom Salesforce MCP servers and view and activate standard Salesforce MCP servers in API Catalog. After you activate the servers and configure a supported MCP client to run them, you can use the servers in Salesforce.

Standard

Activate standard Salesforce MCP servers to use in Agentforce. After you activate the servers, they appear in both API Catalog and Agentforce Registry. Although active standard Salesforce MCP servers appear in Agentforce Registry, you can activate and deactivate them only in API Catalog.

Here’s how to activate standard Salesforce MCP servers in API Catalog.

  1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter API Catalog, and then select MCP Servers.
  2. Select an MCP server.
  3. To activate an MCP server, select Activate.
  4. To deactivate an MCP server, select an active server that isn’t in use, and then select Deactivate.

Custom

If you have the Salesforce Hosted MCP servers feature enabled, you can create custom Salesforce MCP servers. Use API Catalog to create the server, add assets to it, and then activate it.

  • Add Salesforce MCP Server tools that map to APIs, Apex Actions, and Flows.
  • Add Salesforce MCP Server prompts from Prompt Builder.
  • Add Salesforce MCP Server assets from other MCP Servers.
  • Activate and deactivate Custom Salesforce MCP Servers in API Catalog.

Here’s how to create custom Salesforce MCP servers in API Catalog.

  • From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter API Catalog, and then select MCP Servers.
  • Select Create Salesforce MCP Server.
  • Enter a unique label, name, and description.
  • Select Create. (After you create the server, you can edit the label and description, but not the name.)
