Manage Service, Inventory, and Revenue

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Explain how the Inventory Management agent monitors stock and files replenishment requests.
  • Describe how the Asset Service Management agent accelerates service quotes and work order creation.
  • Explain how the Product Upsell and Cross-sell agent identifies upgrade opportunities and generates quotes.
  • Identify the capabilities of the Automotive Warranty Claims Assistance agent.
  • Identify how the templates support the entire manufacturing lifecycle.

Run Operations Smoothly

For a manufacturer, the sale is no longer the finish line. As new-equipment margins tighten, growth comes from what happens after delivery, keeping machines running, parts moving, and customers loyal enough to buy again. Service and aftermarket work now carry some of the highest margins in the business, and uptime has become a selling point in its own right.

That puts pressure on the moment a machine goes down. A technician arrives onsite, the customer's line is down, and the one part that fixes it sits out of stock at the wrong warehouse. The appointment slips, and a service call meant to build trust does the opposite.

For manufacturing teams, inventory and service operations are deeply connected. Service teams need quick access to asset history, warranty coverage, and repair estimates. Inventory teams and field technicians need accurate stock data and the right parts before a repair begins.

In this unit, you explore how Agentforce helps teams manage inventory, accelerate service operations, identify upsell opportunities, and keep the end-to-end service lifecycle on track.

Stay on Top of Stock

Inventory issues can quickly impact manufacturing operations. A missing part can delay a customer order, slow down a repair, or stop production altogether. To avoid disruptions, teams need accurate inventory visibility and a faster way to respond to shortages.

The Inventory Management agent template gives teams a faster, simpler way to stay on top of all of it. Instead of navigating complex inventory tracking systems, users ask the agent plain questions and get accurate, contextual results right away.

Inventory managers and field teams can use the agent to:

  • Find specific products, parts, or vehicles by name, ID, or specification.
  • Summarize stock levels across one or multiple locations.
  • Identify stock shortages before they become problems.
  • Suggest optimal source locations, and automate the restocking process.
  • File product replenishment requests to restock inventory.

Take a routine check. An inventory manager needs to check whether a component is available at a regional warehouse before committing to a customer order. Instead of logging into a separate system, the manager types:

"Check stock levels for Industrial Filter F-2201 at the Midwest Distribution Center."

The agent retrieves the current stock and provides the result. The manager spots a shortage and follows up with:

"Create a replenishment request for 50 units of Industrial Filter F-2201."

The agent files the request, alerts the team, and protects the customer commitment. This helps the team respond faster and avoid delays that could impact operations.

Speed Up Service

For service teams, speed and accuracy decide whether a visit builds the relationship or strains it. When equipment fails, the clock starts. Before a repair begins, a rep reviews asset history and telemetry, verifies warranty coverage, identifies the parts, and builds an estimate and work order. Every manual step in that chain slows down service operations and increases equipment downtime.

The Asset Service Management agent template includes two subagents that support different stages of the service workflow.

  • Asset Service Estimation: Reviews asset telemetry and service history to help service reps generate accurate repair estimates and service quotes with applicable warranty and service contract coverage applied automatically.
  • Asset Service Work Order Management: Helps teams create work orders from approved quotes, manage service-related actions, and draft customer communications.

Say a customer reports a fault code on a piece of industrial equipment. The service rep opens the asset record and prompts the agent:

"Summarize asset."

The Asset Service Estimation subagent analyzes the asset's telemetry data and service history, surfaces the fault, and presents a clear condition summary. The rep follows up:

"Create a repair estimate."

The agent walks through a guided sequence, selecting the work type, price book, required parts, and applicable warranty or service contract coverage. It applies eligible discounts automatically and generates an accurate, compliant service quote.

After the customer accepts the quote, the rep switches to the Asset Service Work Order Management subagent and types:

"Create a work order for this quote."

The agent creates the work order, and the rep follows up with one more prompt:

"Draft an email to the customer with the work order information."

The agent drafts it. The customer gets a professional, consistent update. The rep moves on to the next case.

Validate Warranty Coverage with Automotive Warranty Claims Assistance

After identifying what a vehicle needs, a service rep still has to confirm whether warranty coverage applies before moving forward. The Automotive Warranty Claims Assistance agent helps reps summarize submitted claims, check claim status, and validate warranty coverage. The Automotive Warranty Claims Management subagent handles all these tasks.

For example, a service rep working on a customer's vehicle asks the agent to check whether a suspected part failure is covered under the current warranty. The agent validates the coverage and pulls up the claim status, letting the rep confirm next steps with the customer immediately instead of escalating the question or digging through separate systems.

Partners have access to the same capability through Automotive Warranty Claims Assistance for Partners, which mirrors the same claim summarization, status checks, and validation.

Turn Service Visits into Revenue Opportunities

Service visits are often focused on resolving issues, but they also create an opportunity to increase revenue. Field technicians already have direct access to the customer and visibility into how the equipment is being used. However, identifying the right upgrade or add-on usually requires searching product catalogs, checking compatibility, and manually building a quote.

The Product Upsell and Cross-sell agent template brings product recommendations and quoting directly into the service workflow. It enables service reps and technicians to identify relevant upgrades, suggest complementary products, and generate quotes using prompts.

The agent supports product discovery through guided actions:

  • Get Add-On Products: Identifies compatible accessories or enhancements for the customer's existing asset.
  • Get Cross-Sell Products: Recommends complementary products based on the customer's current setup.
  • Get Upgrade Products: Suggests newer or higher-tier versions of products the customer already has.
  • Create Sales Quote: Generates sales quotes for selected products.
  • Format Product Recommendations: Presents a structured display of recommended products.

For example, a technician wraps up a repair visit and notices the customer's equipment is using an older model. Instead of browsing a catalog, the technician enters:

"Find upgrade options for this asset."

The agent surfaces compatible upgrade products based on the customer's current asset. The technician selects one and follows up:

"Generate a quote for this upgrade."

The agent creates the quote. The customer reviews it on the spot. What started as a service call becomes a revenue opportunity — closed before the technician even leaves the site. Once the customer agrees, the agent captures quote approval right within the conversational interface, keeping the entire interaction in Salesforce.

End-to-End Scenario: From Quote to Service to Growth

You've explored how each template handles its part of the manufacturing process. Now put them all together.

A manufacturing company needs a new hydraulic press for its facility.

Phase 1: Win the Deal

Your sales rep opens the Industries Sales Assistance template. The Industries Sales Concierge subagent finds matching models, locates a nearby distributor, and generates a quote — done in minutes. A quick inventory check with Inventory Management template flags a missing accessory kit, and a replenishment request is filed on the spot. The rep then opens the Sales Planning template to set up a sales agreement with quarterly volumes and tiered pricing. Deal closed.

Phase 2: Service the Asset

Six months later, the press gets a fault. Your service rep opens the Asset Service Management template. The subagent identifies a failing pressure sensor, confirms warranty coverage, and generates a repair estimate instantly. A work order is created and a technician is dispatched.

Phase 3: Grow the Revenue

Your technician fixes the sensor and spots outdated firmware. The Product Upsell and Cross-sell template surfaces a firmware upgrade and monitoring kit. The plant manager approves the quote on the spot. A warranty repair becomes a revenue opportunity.

Phase 4: Track Channel Performance

Your rebate administrator opens the Channel Revenue Management template, reviews Q1 payouts, and catches a missing transaction before it reaches finance.

Phase 5: Plan the Future

The customer expands. Your sales rep updates planned volumes in Sales Planning, unlocks better pricing, and converts the forecast to an opportunity. The cycle continues.

Six templates, one connected platform. Every interaction, from initial quote to field service to strategic planning, flows through Salesforce. No system switching. No lost context. Just manufacturing operations that run on conversational AI.

Wrap Up

In this badge, you explored how every template handles a specific job. Together, they give every person on your team an agent that knows their work, acts within the boundaries you set, and keeps everything in Salesforce. Your agents are ready. Are you?
