Customize the Thank You Page

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Enable surveys in your org.
  • List a few use cases for customizing the survey thank you page.
  • Build a survey.

Surveys Thank You Page Customization in Action

To try out the thank you page customization features, Ada suggests a simple use case. She imagines a young prospect with a strong purchase intent for a solar heating unit. He visits the nearest Ursa Major Solar store to check out the options. After the visit, Ursa Major Solar emails him an NPS (net promoter score) survey to learn about his experience. Based on his response to the survey, he would land on a different page from the thank you page. Ada imagines two possible cases based on the responses of the prospect.

Case 1

The prospect likes the products at the Ursa Major Solar store and wants to make a purchase. However, he isn't happy with the behavior of the staff at the store and he gives a poor NPS score. As an apology, Ada gives him a special discount on the product he likes.

Case 2

The prospect wants to evaluate more options. Ada offers him CTAs (calls to action) to check out additional products. From the thank you page, she can lead him to the upcoming products page of the company or redirect him to its social page that displays all current products.

Set Up a Survey and Redirect Users from the Thank You Page

You'll be completing these hands-on, step-by-step units in your own personal Salesforce environment, called a Trailhead Playground. Get your Trailhead Playground now by first logging in to Trailhead, and then clicking Launch at the bottom of this page. Your playground opens in a new browser tab or window. Keep the playground window open while you follow the step-by-step instructions. After you complete the steps in your playground, come back to this window and click Check Challenge to Earn 500 Points at the bottom of this page.

Enable Surveys in Your Org

Maria begins by enabling Surveys in her org.

  1. Click Setup and select Setup.
  2. Enter Survey in the Quick Find box, and select Survey Settings.
  3. Under Surveys, change the toggle to Enabled.

Grant the Right Permissions

After enabling surveys in her org, Maria needs a simple permission to start using the survey builder to build a survey and design its thank you page. She creates a permission set and assigns it to herself. Later on, she can assign the permission set to Ada and other users in the org who create surveys.

  1. Click Setup and select Setup.
  2. Enter Permission Sets in the Quick Find box, and select Permission Sets.
  3. Click New.
  4. Enter these details:
    • Label: Salesforce Feedback Management
    • API Name: Salesforce_Feedback_Management (This field auto-completes.)
  5. Select Salesforce as the license, and click Save.
  6. In the System section, click System Permissions.
  7. Click Edit.
  8. Enable Salesforce Surveys Advanced Features, and click Save. The Salesforce Surveys Advanced Features permission enabled in a permission set.
  9. On the confirmation message, click Save.
  10. Click Manage Assignments.
  11. Click Add Assignments.
  12. Maria selects her username. For the purpose of this badge, check your username.
  13. Click Assign.
  14. Click Done.

With the permissions in place, Maria is ready to create a survey that fits her cases. She wants to include merge fields within the survey to lead respondents to other webpages. She’s planning to add custom messages that appear based on the answer choices of the survey taker. In the next unit, find out how Maria creates the survey and customizes its thank you page to meet her use cases.
