Set Up Salesforce Meetings

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Enable Salesforce Meetings for sales reps.
  • Configure the Salesforce Meetings experience.

In this module, we assume you’re a Salesforce admin with the proper permissions to set up Salesforce Meetings. We also assume that your activity syncing solution is configured. If you’re not an admin, that’s OK. Read along to learn how your Salesforce admin would enable and configure Salesforce Meetings for you.

Enable Salesforce Meetings

Salesforce Meetings is available with Sales Cloud in all editions. The feature is already enabled.

  1. In Salesforce setup, enter Meetings in the Quick Find box, and select Meetings.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Review the sync recommendations.
  4. Confirm that the event page layout has the right components for your reps.

The default layout includes the Meeting Digest and a column to add other components. If you customized the event layout, use Lightning App Builder to add the Meeting Digest component to a tab or wide area on the page.

Note

NOTE: To take advantage of Quip documents in Salesforce Meetings, be sure to set up and link to Salesforce Anywhere (Quip).

Add the Meeting Digest to Custom Event Record Pages

Make sure users have access to the Meeting Digest as part of the event record. You do that by ensuring that the Meeting Digest is part of the event record page layout that’s assigned to each user.

If you haven’t customized the event record page layout, the Meetings Digest and its components are added as a new tab in the event record page when you turn on Salesforce Meetings. That’s it. There’s nothing more to do. Users see the Meeting Digest tab on the event records created in Salesforce when an event syncs from Outlook or Gmail. Make sure reps open the version of the event available on My Calendar in Salesforce.

If you customized the event record page layout, add the Meeting Digest component to your custom layouts. All the digest’s pieces are available in the Meeting Digest component in Lightning App Builder.

The Meeting Digest component works best either on its own tab or a wide area on the page.

Customize the Default Meeting Digest Tab

The default Salesforce Meetings page layout includes the Meeting Digest and a column to add other standard or custom components. As we mentioned, that default page is used if you don’t have custom event page layouts. If you like that layout, but your reps need more components along with the digest, clone the Event Record for Salesforce Meetings page available in the Lightning App Builder for the Event record.

Create a new Lightning page with the default Salesforce Meetings option highlighted.

Give Access to Meeting Studio for Ad Hoc Meetings

Reps can access the Meeting Studio from the Meeting Digest for calendar events that synced into Salesforce. But all meetings can benefit from the engaging and unique experience that Meeting Studio offers. Maybe a sales manager, reps, or any other Salesforce users want to use the studio’s great features for ad hoc and internal meetings too. We’ve got you covered!

For users to take advantage of Meeting Studio for all their meetings, use Lightning App Builder to add the Meeting Studio component to the Home page. Make sure users assigned to the Home page you create also have the Salesforce Meetings permission set assigned.

Now that you know about the pieces and the power that Salesforce Meetings can bring to your sales reps conversations, set up your reps to make the most of every conversation they have with customers and prospects.
