Visualize Your Data

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Understand what visualization in Marketing Cloud Intelligence is.
  • Create a collection in your Marketing Cloud Intelligence workspace.
  • Describe what can be achieved with visualization in Marketing Cloud Intelligence.

What Is Marketing Cloud Intelligence Visualization?

Modern marketing is complex due to the numerous tools, technologies, and reports that are available today. Using Marketing Cloud Intelligence visualization tools, you can remove the guesswork by bringing all your marketing data together into one centralized view.

Marketing Cloud Intelligence provides complete visibility into your marketing performance across your digital and offline advertising, social media, content marketing, email, web analytics, and more. With this holistic view of all of your data, your teams can collaborate more effectively and are empowered to make better decisions to move your marketing and business forward.

In this module, we assume you’re a Marketing Cloud Intelligence user with the proper permissions to take the actions described. If you’re not a Marketing Cloud Intelligence user, that’s OK. Read along to learn how you would take the steps in the product. Don't try to follow these steps in your Trailhead Playground. Marketing Cloud Intelligence isn't available in the Trailhead Playground.

To start, simply click the Visualize tab in your Marketing Cloud Intelligence workspace for a real-time view of all your marketing data in one place. Here, create everything from standard KPI (key performance indicators) reporting to complex visualizations required for audience segmentation, customer journey analytics, predictive modeling—and whatever else you need to tell a compelling story.

The visualization process in Marketing Cloud Intelligence includes three primary elements.

  • Collections: Enable you to synergize all your data and consume it in one place. No matter where data is coming from—a data stream or an app—you can visualize, organize, and personalize it all together in a collection.
  • Pages: Are needed to visualize your data. You can have multiple pages within your collection to assist you in dividing the visualization into manageable sections. The following pages are available in Marketing Cloud Intelligence:
    • Blank dashboard pages: Used to create visualizations of your data without any predefined settings or design.
    • Dashboard templates: Pages that are created based on a dashboard template that has been saved to the workspace, allowing you to replicate your dashboard pages across your collections and workspace.
    • App pages: Pages that are added to your collections, which display all the valuable data that is generated from an installed app, enabling you to visualize and customize a marketplace app all within your collection.
  • Widgets: The graphic elements that appear on the page, such as pie charts, tables, and bar graphs.

How to Create a Collection

Once you connect your data to Marketing Cloud Intelligence, you’re ready to start organizing and managing your data for the different departments of your organization—for example delivery data, cost data, or social impact. The relevant data for each department is managed in separate visualization entities or collections.

To create a collection, navigate to Visualize > All Collections and select Add New.

Once you save your collection, the next step is to add pages and start transforming your data into meaningful pages using Marketing Cloud Intelligence’s visualization tools.

Marketing Cloud Intelligence’s visualization tools enable you to create beautiful dashboard pages and design them with ease, empowering you to create more expressive visualizations and customize them with the utmost granular control.

The visualize tab provides a one-stop-shop where you can do it all—from adding widgets and filters to applying designs in a snap, and even exporting your page and publishing it.

Let’s take a quick look at the page navigation before we dive into creating beautiful pages.

  • The main hub for editing the page is on the left pane (1). Here you see all the relevant tabs for the setting level you’re in—whether you’re setting up a widget, or designing the page.
  • The second hub to edit the page is in the top bar (2). Here you administer page-level settings and actions, such as naming the page, changing the date range, adding widgets, applying page-level filters, and more.

In this unit, you learned how to visualize your data, create a collection, and how to navigate the visualize tab. Move on to the next unit and learn how to create and customize pages.
