Get to Know Einstein Pricing

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Describe how Einstein offerings are packaged and priced.
  • Define pricing terminology.

Before You Start

We recommend that you complete the following Trailhead modules before starting this one. The work you do here builds on vocabulary and concepts you learn in this content.

Predictive and Generative AI for CRM

Throughout its more than 20-year history, Salesforce has pioneered new ways to improve customer relationship management systems (CRM). Salesforce is again leading the pack with the latest iteration of the Einstein suite of products—the world’s first conversational, generative, and predictive AI for CRM. Salesforce has already built Einstein solutions into many of our clouds, and more features are being offered with each release.

In this Quick Look module, learn how Einstein offerings are priced, what’s included in Einstein packages, and how Einstein pricing works.

AI and Your Business

Bringing AI into your business is an exciting adventure. There’s so much to learn about the value it can bring to your organization, security, and how products and features are packaged and priced. Einstein makes it easy for you to make decisions about AI. Best of all, we’ve taken the guesswork out of how much you’ll pay for the benefits of AI across your business.

Einstein offerings are grouped into packages and priced on a per-user, per-month model–much like many other Salesforce products. This gives you assurance that your employees always have access to your Einstein products to get their work done. And you won’t need to spend much time tracking their usage.

Note

Use of generative AI capabilities, in either a production or sandbox environment, consumes Einstein Requests and possibly Data Cloud credits.

What’s Included in Einstein Packages?

Since Salesforce is all about CRM + AI + Data + Trust, it’s no surprise that each of these qualities are central to every Einstein product. Let’s take a look at how Einstein products are packaged and what they include.

  • All Einstein products are included with Einstein 1 Editions.
  • All Einstein products are included with Marketing Cloud - Growth - Enterprise Edition and Marketing Cloud - Growth - Unlimited Edition.
  • If your organization uses the Enterprise, Performance, or Unlimited editions, these Einstein products can be purchased as add-ons.
    • Einstein for Platform
    • Einstein for Sales
    • Einstein for Service

Each package includes key AI tools to help your employees get started quickly with everything they need to be successful, including the following.

  • Einstein predictive and generative AI features
  • Einstein Copilot and Prompt Builder
  • A library of Einstein Copilot standard actions
  • The Einstein Trust Layer
  • A quantity of Einstein Requests
  • A quantity of Data Cloud credits and storage capacity
  • Einstein for Formulas
  • Feedback
Note

Dependencies

Action libraries, request quantities, and Data Cloud storage capacity are dependent on the package and Salesforce edition purchased. Your Salesforce account executive can provide detailed information.

Einstein Requests

You learned that Einstein packages are priced using a monthly, per-user license model. So, how exactly does that work? Salesforce uses Einstein Requests to calculate usage across its Einstein products and features like Copilot, prompt templates, and many Sales and Service generative features. In Einstein, an API call includes both an input and its response. The input is sent as a prompt to a large language model (LLM), which returns the generated response.

Einstein Request usage is calculated for each API call made through the LLM gateway to a Large Language Model (LLM). Consumption calculations involve:

  • The API call size factor, which is the combined size of the prompt and the LLM-generated response, in words, divided by 1,500, and then rounded up to the next integer. There are no fractional API call size factors.

So, for example, if an API call of 3,000 words uses an LLM with a usage type multiplier of 10, it consumes 20 Einstein Requests.

Einstein supports a number of LLMs. Newer or more robust LLMs may provide more detailed and accurate results, but they may consume more requests. Review the Einstein Generative AI Rate Card to learn more about request consumption.

Einstein Usage FAQs

Below are some answers to questions you may have about Einstein usage.

When are requests consumed?

Requests are consumed on each API call to the LLM, regardless of whether the person who makes the call uses the response they receive.

Which LLMs does Einstein support?

Einstein supports all of the available LLMs, including bring your own (BYO) LLM.

Who contributes to request usage consumption?

Anyone in your Salesforce org who uses Einstein Requests contributes to usage consumption.

Can I use requests with any Einstein product?

A quantity of Einstein Requests are included with each package. While most employees will only consume requests from packages that align with their given role, like Sales or Service, Einstein requests can be used by Einstein-licensed employees across your organization.

How is Einstein enabled in my org?

Einstein packages are enabled by Salesforce for each product or feature purchased.

Can I see my organization’s feature usage?

The Einstein Copilot Analytics dashboard shows you metrics and charts about how your users are engaging with Copilot, and how well your standard and custom actions are performing. You can also receive Einstein feature usage details on a monthly usage report provided by your account executive. To learn more about usage, contact your account executive.

Do Einstein Requests expire?

Yes. Einstein requests must be used before the expiration date set in your contract. No rollovers will be permitted. Reach out to your account executive for details.

Request Quality + Data Freshness = Great Responses

It makes sense that a well-structured request is the key to getting a quality response back from the LLM. This, in turn, helps keep your request usage down. Carefully refining the requests that your business uses regularly is the most efficient way to make calls to the LLM that generate quality responses your users can share with customers.

However, a well-crafted request only generates accurate responses if the data it’s grounded in is up-to-date. It’s important to make sure your data is kept current, accurate, and complete. Visit the Data Quality Trailhead module to learn how to keep your data healthy.

Visit the Einstein Copilot Basics, Prompt Fundamentals, and Prompt Builder Basics Trailhead modules for tips on how to craft requests and prompts so you get responses that address your business needs accurately and use requests efficiently.

Summary

Einstein helps you reach more customers faster and more securely than ever. You’ll gain peace of mind knowing that you have the power of the Salesforce CRM and the super-secure Einstein Trust Layer behind every AI interaction. This, coupled with Einstein’s monthly, per-user pricing model ensures you know exactly what you’re paying for. Speak with your Salesforce account executive about any questions you may have about prices, trust, and how to get the most out of your Einstein purchases.
