I'm relatively new to Salesforce, and currently customising the platform before implementing into our organisation. One thing i am stuck with is setting up an account number structure.
Basically, we have 3 different account record types within our org. There is only one account record type which we need to allocate an account number to each account as it's created. I've implemented a custom field (auto-number) to allocate an account number to each new account. The issue is, Salesforce is allocating this to every new account, no matter which record type is selected (even though the field isn't on the relevant page layout)
Does anyone have any ideas how we can get round this?
