Blackbaud Financial Edge Integration

Hi, 

I am trying to connect to financial edge system using MuleSoft and wanted to check anyone has experience with this integration. 

I have come across connectors such as OAuth and SQL Select, but i am not entirely sure about configuration and pipeline. 

 

Anyone has done something similar could please share some guidance?

    @Arbaz Bamboowala this can be done with MuleSoft, but do not start with SQL Select unless you are using a third-party JDBC/ODBC layer such as CData.

    For Financial Edge NXT, the cleaner approach is to use Blackbaud SKY API through MuleSoft’s HTTP Request connector.

    You should:

    • Create a Blackbaud SKY Developer app
    • Enable the required Financial Edge NXT scopes
    • Configure OAuth 2.0 authorization
    • Store the access/refresh token securely in MuleSoft
    • Call the required Financial Edge NXT API endpoints
    • Transform the response in DataWeave
    • Push the data to Salesforce, database, SFTP, or another target system

    SKY API authorization uses OAuth 2.0:

    For API calls, you normally need both:

    Authorization: Bearer <access_token> 

    Bb-Api-Subscription-Key: <subscription_key>

    On the MuleSoft side, use the HTTP Request connector with OAuth 2.0/token handling:

    A simple implementation pattern is:

    Scheduler or API trigger -> get/refresh token -> call Financial Edge NXT endpoint -> handle pagination/errors -> transform response -> send to target system -> log request/response status

    If the requirement is only reporting/querying Financial Edge data, then a CData/JDBC-style connector can work, but that becomes a vendor-driver approach, not a native Blackbaud API pattern. For operational integrations, SKY API through MuleSoft HTTP connector is the better architecture.

    I passed my exam successfully using 𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗫𝗔𝗠𝗦𝗣𝗥𝗢

     

    and around 90% of the questions were very similar to the practice material, which made the experience much easier

Important Update: Anypoint Platform is migrating to a New Email Server System starting April 6, 2026Important Update: Anypoint Platform is migrating to a New Email Server System starting April 6, 2026What’s changing:Starting April 6, 2026, we are transitioning Anypoint Platform’s mailing distributioWhat’s changing:

Starting April 6, 2026, we are transitioning Anypoint Platform’s mailing distribution system to Salesforce Marketing Cloud Next. As a result, you or your company-provided mail server will begin receiving emails from the new email system, which will use new sender (‘from’) and reply-to (‘reply-to’) addresses. 

 

This transition period begins April 6, 2026, and we expect all emails to be sent exclusively from the new processing system by April 30, 2026. Between April 6, 2026 and April 20, 2026 your server will continue to receive emails from both the existing and new systems. 

 

Why is this changing:

Anypoint Platform is transitioning to a new email distribution system to improve security and resilience of our email alert notifications service. 

 

What do you need to do:

To continue receiving all necessary communications from Anypoint Platform, take these actions:

  1. Configure your email server system to allow emails from the new email processing system, which uses the new sender and reply-to addresses. 
  2. Update configurations in your email server to prevent Anypoint Platform emails from being incorrectly identified as spam. 

 

Review this Knowledge Article for more details on how to prepare for this upcoming change and implement changes. We request that you take these actions because MuleSoft doesn’t have knowledge about your email server or configurations to automate this on your behalf. 

 

What happens if you don’t make the change:

If you don’t make this change, then effective April 6, 2026 you will risk losing access to critical emails from Anypoint Platform. This change does not affect your runtime APIs or integration flows.

SHA-1 is a legacy algorithm considered cryptographically insecure due to known collision vulnerabilities. Leading security standards bodies, including NIST, recommend transitioning to SHA-2 family algorithms such as SHA-256 to mitigate potential risks.

 

What do you need to do:

If your organization uses SAML-based Single Sign-On (SSO) to access MuleSoft services, do the following:

  1. Review your third-party Identity Provider (IdP) configuration.
    1. Configure your IdP to use RSA-SHA256 or stronger signature algorithms.
    2. Update any metadata if necessary to reflect the stronger algorithm.
  2. Test your updated configuration.
    1. We recommend testing changes in a non-production environment.
  3. Complete the update before March 15, 2026. After this date, connections using SHA-1 will be removed.

Please note that these specific actions are required by you since MuleSoft does not have prior knowledge about your specific Identity provider or relevant configurations. 

 

What happens if you don’t make the change:

Effective March 15, 2026, Identity Providers (IdPs) configured to use SHA-1 will no longer be accepted, resulting in failed logins for affected users. You may need to work with vendors or third-parties, if required, to comply with this request.

Bi-directional sync across 2 Salesforce orgs

To connect 2 Salesforce orgs to allow for data sync using MuleSoft composer, do both orgs require composer?   (And this should be configured in the production org for both)?

    Hey @Justine Reilly

    1. You just need one instance of @* MuleSoft Composer * that would be installed on only one your Production Org and can not be installed in sandbox.
    2. You then need to establish connection with both your target and source Salesforce org using inbuilt Salesforce Connector.
    3. Once Done you need some identifier in your Source Orgs & targer Orgs records which would you identify records or relation between them so you can directly use the Id to identify records in the target system rather then finding out records manually for each operation
    4. In case of Bi-directional Data synchronization Then you also need to create a checkbox field to indicate that this update was fired from Mulesoft Composer in both your Salesforce Orgs otherwise Both your Mulesoft Composer Flow would fire infinitely so using the checkbox you can restrict the infinite Loop
    5. You can either use a Standalone Mulesoft Composer Instance or a Mulesoft Composer installed as a Managed Package in your existing Salesforce Production Orgs(Enterprise,Unlimited,Performance Edition) you can refer this article https://blogs.mulesoft.com/dev-guides/install-and-configure-mulesoft-composer-for-salesforce/

MANUAL_VALIDATION_REQUIRED result but Review Task is empty in IDP UI

Hello,  

 

I am creating a MuleSoft flow that sends documents to IDP to extract information and create records in Salesforce using the extracted data.  

 

When the flow receives a MANUAL_VALIDATION_REQUIRED status for a document, an email is sent to the reviewers, but when they go to the Review Tasks in IDP UI, there is nothing to review.  

 

Why is this happening?

    Hi @Daymel Marrero

    , the most common issues thsi could happen is becauise  

    the document type is not linked to a Review Queue, or the queue has no active users.

     

    Check following items 

    1. IDP → Document Types → confirm Review Queue is selected
    2. IDP → Review Queues → confirm active users are assigned
    3. Verify Mule is sending to the same IDP environment reviewers are logging into

    In most cases, it’s a queue configuration issue  not a Mule flow problem.

We are reaching out with an important update regarding the APIs and Reports you may be using to track the consumption of Anypoint MQ and Object Store v2 within your organization. These APIs and Reports will be deprecated as of July 31, 2026 and the same insights will now be available via Anypoint Usage APIs and Anypoint Usage Reports.

 

Why are we making this change 

We are consolidating platform-wide consumption insights into a single, unified API and Usage dashboard to help streamline your monitoring and reporting workflows with a more scalable and consistent solution. These now include Anypoint MQ and Object Store v2 insights. 

 

What action do you need to take 

Before July 31, 2026 please transition to Anypoint Usage APIs and Anypoint Usage Reports

 to track your consumption of Anypoint MQ and Object Store v2. 

 

What happens if you don’t take this action 

The following APIs and Reports that you may be using to track consumption of Anypoint MQ and Object Store v2 will be deprecated effective July 31, 2026. 

Please note that this change will not have any impact on your Mule applications that use Anypoint MQ and Object Store v2.
