Hi Nonprofit Community! Weekly Roundup - 1st week of July!

 

Hi crew! Sharing my weekly update a bit early this week as I'll be OOO for the 4th of July holiday. Can you believe it's July already?!  

 

Even though it's a short week, WOW what a week already it's been! Let's take a look at what's going on in the Nonprofit Salesforce world this week. Chime in on the comments if there are other hot-topics you'd like to share too :)

  • MVP Class of 2026 is announced! Check out the update, congratulate our new, renewed and hall of fame MVPs. See the Trailblazer update HERE and congratulate folks on LinkedIn HERE.

Hey team, this one is worth pausing on! There's been a really active thread going on the Trailblazer Community (New "Step Up Authentication" for Reports?) started by @Heath Parks all about the latest security and MFA updates - folks have been chiming in with new info as it unfolds. The key thing to know: Salesforce security changes drop on July 1, so now is the time to make sure your org is ready!

    Thanks for putting this together @Lizzy Roberts! I maintain a calendar of webinars, workshops, etc., for my organization but the info is scattered across trailhead academy, linkedIn, and more. Your work on these posts saves us a lot of time finding them all.

Is there any education cloud training you guys recommend?

We are moving from EDA to Education Cloud and want to get some of my staff some early awareness around the tool so that they can help create training for our staff in the future.

Education Cloud and document management

Is anyone using SoftDocs for enterprise document management? We are currently in Education Cloud and storing documents in Salesforce. Students are uploading through an Experience Cloud site and internal users are uploading directly in Salesforce. From what I understand, our current process will no longer work (if we go with SoftDocs) and we'll have to reconfigure all our Ed Cloud automations that update our application and document checklist items based on document uploads because all uploads will be required to go through SoftDocs. I can't figure out how we will allow students to upload documents through the portal.

    You're absolutely right. If the goal is to reduce your tech stack, the last thing you want is to replace one document management system with another. 

     

    That's why it's important to distinguish between a repository and an integration layer. Since you're already using Microsoft, SharePoint can serve as the enterprise document repository and system of record for document storage, permissions, and retention. Solutions like sFiles don't create another repository or require documents to be stored somewhere else. The files remain in SharePoint, and Salesforce works directly with SharePoint, allowing users to continue working in Salesforce and Experience Cloud.

     

    The migration side is where it gets interesting, since its never one size fits all. How many files are you looking to move, what Salesforce objects are they attached to today, and would different departments need separate SharePoint sites or libraries? Those answers usually drive the migration strategy and help determine how much of your existing Education Cloud automation can be preserved versus reworked. 

     

    We've seen those factors make a significant difference in the overall approach and effort involved.

    Sou da Ñrea de TI com foco em Governança, Riscos e Conformidade (GRC) e, após ler alguns artigos sobre o ecossistema Salesforce, me interessei muito pelo potencial da plataforma. Como sou nova nesse universo, estou com dificuldades para navegar no site oficial e encontrar os laboratórios prÑticos voltados para iniciantes.

    Alguém que jÑ atue na Ñrea poderia me indicar por onde começar? Existe alguma trilha inicial específica ou ambiente de testes recomendado para quem quer entender a lógica de processos e configuraçáes sem código?

Blackbaud Financial Edge Integration

Hi, 

I am trying to connect to financial edge system using MuleSoft and wanted to check anyone has experience with this integration. 

I have come across connectors such as OAuth and SQL Select, but i am not entirely sure about configuration and pipeline. 

 

Anyone has done something similar could please share some guidance?
