I have URLs in a column in my datasource, I'm using this field to create a URL action which allows users to jump to another page outside of Tableau. The link works in Desktop and brings me to the correct page, but once I publish the workbook to Tableau Online, the link no longer works. From what I can tell, "https://us-east-1.online.tableau.com/#/site/" is being added to the beginning of the URL when it's clicked in Tableau Online.
I've checked the URL field and "https://us-east-1.online.tableau.com/#/site/" definitely isn't a part of the field. I've done this many times before and the links work fine and Tableau doesn't add the prefix that it's adding now, so I'm incredibly confused what's going on and how to fix it.
I've left a screenshot of the error I get when clicking the URL below.
@Tim Sunzeri
My best guess is that the URL/URL Field is not containing "https://" or "https://" and is only including something like plain text "example.com".
If this does not resolve the question, It would really help us investigate this question if you could upload a packaged workbook (.twbx) of the problem. For more information on how to create a packaged workbook see:
Packaged Workbooks
https://help.tableau.com/current/pro/desktop/en-us/save_savework_packagedworkbooks.htm
If you are unable to share your data you can also use the Superstore Sample data source that comes bundled with Tableau or you can also anonymize your data
https://community.tableau.com/s/anonymize-tableau-package-data
If this post resolves the question, would you be so kind to "Select as Best"?. This will help other users find the same answer/resolution and help community keep track of answered questions. Thank you.
