Hello All,
I am working on creating YoY field based on each years quarter. For example, I want to compare % change in 2017Q1 and 2018Q1.
2017Q2 and 2018Q2 and so on...
I am attaching sample file below. Column is order date quarter, rows count customer id ( cumulative)
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Hi @BERK YUNUR
Hope all is well on your side. You forgot to tag Paul (@Paul Wachtler )
so he may have not received your email / seen your update. Regarding the
YoY Question, Paul's earlier solution is "Spot On" and the value of 34.5% is
right for YoY when using Customer Counts (2019Q1 and 2020Q1).
Also note that when you are calculating RUNNING SUM of Customers, it's a
"Whole new Ball game". A good example to understand this is when you have
a constant number of folks each month (throughout the year, you would see a
flat line (perfectly horizontal, slope = 0) but when you do a RUNNING_SUM,
you will see the same Line slope upwards.
Also you are absolutely right about the New YoY being much more than 34%
(In fact it is 59%). I have recreated your scenario and here is a screenshot
I have also attached the twbx file just to compliment the earlier solution which
correctly answers your question. This was just my 2 cents and hope this helps.
Take care and Best wishes. "Gule Gule" 🙂 (with the umlauts) !
Sincerely,
Soumitra
