Hi Tableau community.
I will display a certain number, let's say 500 000, in a worksheet which can be filtered like on the picture below. If i choose monthly then it is displayed as below, e.g. "2018 Aug", or if i choose "Weekly" then it will be displayed as "2019 w1". This is done to make it easier for the user to choose between values, I know it's possible to have the filter as a full date like "2019-01-01" but it does not show it in a good way and clear way for the intended purpose and audience here. The issue with this is that it is not a problem showing the current value of e.g. "2019 Sep" but I want to make a comparision to the previous period, "2018 Sep". I'm not sure if it's the main issue, but choosing a filter for current period filters out the previous one and results in 0 which i means I can't get the previous value, index value or similar.
The parameter p.Time Range is made like the picture below.
The calculated field is displayed below.
The Time Range dimension is put on filter and will show the current value for the chosen period and all values are displayed as string values.
Is there a way to have a dropdown filter that displays it as a string value but can work, with other calculated fields, as a date value and thereby filter correctly? Or should I use the string values and aggregate the data needed?
The idea of it is to, in the same worksheet, display the number value, a percentage difference compared to the same time period such as 2019 Sep with 2018 Sep. Also to display an index comparison with the 2 kind of triangles. Regarding the triangle, is there a way of displaying the color of it, i'm currently using only black ones, is it better to have a coloured triangle from start?
I hope my questions are understandable.
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Jari
