Hey, this is my first post here, and I am a beginner user with Tableau. My primary use is to summarize scientific data obtained from SQL-server. I have a problem and cant figure out the best way to approach it. In an Excel file I have a list of over 300 individual 5-digit ID-numbers. In database connected to Tableau there is a column named "Sample Name" which contains, but is not limited to the forementioned IDs. Each "Sample Name" consists of 10 to 20 letters and digits and includes irrelevant text. Ihe ID number that I am trying to locate and extract can be anywhere in the name - beginning, end or middle. I am looking a way to find the ID from longer string and extract it to a clean calculated field to make new datagroups.
