Can someone let me know the procedure to ensure that my dashboards published on the server gets updated as the data sources changes. (We normally use excel files to create dashboards)
Do i need to publish the extract on server with scheduling and then connect to the published dashboard to build a view?
Or
Can i create an extract on my local, build a dashboard and publish the dashboard with the extract with scheduling option?
I tried both the method and found that first method refreshes the extract and updates the data where as the second method does not updated the data or the view.
We generally recommend publishing the extract then connecting to the published data source. However, in Tableau Desktop 9.3, if you publish a data source, the workbook will automatically connect to the published data source which should save you some time.
