There are a few posts floating around about naming conventions and Tableau, but most seem related to talking about the content of Tableau.
I'm curious: what naming conventions are you using to make your datasources, sheets, and workbooks easy to follow and find?
Here's what's we're using at an enterprise level:
Datasources:
[SubjectArea]_[Data]_[Grain]_[DateRange]_[DataSourceKey]
e.g.
Retail_Orders_Daily_2PY_Current_RTORDD451
SupportCenter_CallCenterLogs_Hourly_2014_SCCCH493
HR_EastRegionTimeSheets_QuarterHourly_2014_HRETSQ393
DataSourceKey = 2 Char Subject Area, 3 Char Data, 1 Char Grain, 3 digit key
Workbooks:
[SubjectArea]_[DataSource]_[Audience]_[Description]
e.g.
Retail_RTORDD451_RegionManagers_RegionPerformanceSnapshot
HR_HRETSQ393_EastRegionVP_TimeSheetComplianceDashboard
And, of course, a link:

Hey Katherine,
I've moved this post to the Server Administration section of the Community where you are more likely to receive a helpful response.
