It has been stated that Tableau 9.3 now supports filled maps for Indian Districts. they have added postcodes for Indian district etc. I want to know exactly how to use this feature. Whether this has been added as an option or it requires custom geocoding. If so what should be the format of data ? and what are post-codes required.

Filled map will work only for State or District (County) not for City. If your city represents a whole district then just assign the geographic role to county then you can have a filled map for your city district. See the screen shot. But this will not be correct.
You should have the path order to get the boundary of your each city. Each path order should have correct lat long to get the area of the city so that you can get filled map for city.
