I would like to know what happens if a sandboxes are in a preview instance but I still have some projects (Flows being created) in development. Does the preview update "refresh" the sandbox? Will it delete the sandbox meta data data? If this is what happens, what should I do in this situation?

it does not chnage the data in it. there is also no metadata deleted. there may be minimal changes related to new features in the release but the same change happens when production is updated.
